Pat in GAFB

Pat - lost your email address - you can email me at dschoosingjoy@gmail.com The lovely book you gave us at our farewell was stolen. I'd like to replace it. Can you please email me the title, or leave it in the comment section? I'm stymied doing an Amazon search as I don't remember the exact name or author.

Ladies, I'll share the title if Pat doesn't post it below. I loved the LOOK and FEEL of this book....and the content looked wonderful. It took 100 - 200 hymns and shared their stories and lyrics...I thought it would be fun for family circle....

In case Pat isn't reading any longer, someone who attends GAFB chapel, please get a hold of Pat the 1100 worship leader and let her know I would love the title of the book. ::snort::

Another Friday

Today has been HOT for OR...in the 90's. We have no fans and no ACs and even WE are hot. ::snort::

I DID find a Great Harvest Bakery. It smells so GOOD when you walk inside. They gave me some free bread for dinner. When you walk in the fresh baked bread (only 4 ingredients - well 5 water), and cookie smells assault you.....and the stacks of raw honey and such were nearly irresistible. LOL

THEN we found the Market of Choice. Wow...huge....and it seems to carry a bit of normal and lots of organic....but you do have choice. LOL

Woot....my favorite granola.

We also tried to replace Krista's driver's license again. She keeps getting different stories...but they didn't give her one. She has to get an electric bill first. They DID tell her she could drive with the copy of her driving record from AK (which shows her current license) and a copy of the police report.

I'm off to make chicken and such....Thanks, FRIEND, for "Singing in the Rain". We plan to popcorn and watch it tonight. I have some wonderful friends. Hmmm....now how long CAN I mark these "vacation" and "Japanese adventure" as we seem to have stagnated in the Pacific NW?!? ::snort::

Stacia is fascinated with the older girls' doll collection, though she doesn't understand the concept of "collection" vs. "play". She is stunned that Bre doesn't have a name for each doll.

We're Bloomin!

I love these little flowers growing on the rock outside our patio door. The deer have left them alone. I think they're my object lesson.

Prayer Request Update

Praises

  • Mike is safe in Misawa.
  • All paperwork, with the exception of Stacia's birth certificate, is in hand at McChord.
  • Misawa Passport agent says, "Tell her to come on." People travel on tourist to Misawa all the time and no one has been sent back to Seattle from Tokyo.
  • Krista has a job. The unemployment here is 15% - highest in the nation.
  • Bre interviewed last night for a job she would enjoy.
  • Krista should be able to get a 90 day temp license from OR - previously they told her she had to wait for an electric bill and she's been unable to drive.
  • To my friend in Hardin, THANKS! I'm only now starting to replace items and your generosity is a blessing.

Prayer Requests

  • We have had 8 children living in 4 bedroom base houses many times....however, the current climate seems to be to tell large families, "we have nothing to offer you." Pray for our housing. It appears that we will not be offered a 4 plex, as we had been led to believe, because it would be inadequate for our family size. It seems to me that should be our decision, as it was in the old days. It looks like Mike will either have to secure housing off base for us, or we will be granted an exception and have two apartments. The lady at the housing office said that the Towers (apartments) are only 40% occupied. This is BAD for the base and so they may well grant an exception and give us two apartments. Mike needs to know this fairly soon, so that he can secure off base housing (which goes FAST) if we aren't going to be offered on base housing. Pray for God's will. I believe GOD is leading us to Japan. I don't believe He'd bring us all this way and then have us live in a cardboard box beside a rice patty.....but....if that's the case we'll simply live our life and minister from the box. ::snort:: He's still God. He's still leading. He's still sovereign.
  • We need vehicles. Pray for Mike to find a good deal on a good car.
  • We are waiting on Stacia's birth certificate. Pray the Post Office finds Sgt. A without the suite number.
  • Bre needs a job! Either the one she interviewed for last night or another one.

I believe that's it for the day. I'll simply post here as I know it will end up on Facebook. Those of you who want to send updates to various lists etc, feel free. Just guard our privacy, if you think I've shared too much.

Message for Mike

For the first time in 11 days I woke up without a list of phone calls, paperwork and such to tend to.

I took Krista out to pick up a slew of job applications. We then stopped at Target and Walmart. I had to admit that I would need to replace some clothes. I didn't buy near what I had packed in my suitcases....but enough to wear for about a week without wearing the same thing twice. ::snort::

We came back to the house and grabbed everyone for a trip to Fern Ridge Lake. Mom and Dad joined us. I took a lot of photos but I think the video captures the afternoon better(yes I DID take the camera out in the water to snap the video).

We headed back in and I made a beef pot pie and tortellinis for dinner. Bre, Jared, Stacia and I headed out again for Walmart. On the way Bre got a call from a potential employer wanting to know if she could be at an interview in an hour. Wow, I've never seen that girl move quite so fast. She's at her interview now.

We're going to watch Tim Hawkins....we can't find the newest Rock Star one....I was sure we had it with us, but it's not here now. LOL

One in Misawa...

six more to go! I feel a bit like the salmon desperately trying to jump the fish ladder and make it "home". ::snort::

I'll share photos as Mike can send them....
