Prayer Request Update

Praises

  • Mike is safe in Misawa.
  • All paperwork, with the exception of Stacia's birth certificate, is in hand at McChord.
  • Misawa Passport agent says, "Tell her to come on." People travel on tourist to Misawa all the time and no one has been sent back to Seattle from Tokyo.
  • Krista has a job. The unemployment here is 15% - highest in the nation.
  • Bre interviewed last night for a job she would enjoy.
  • Krista should be able to get a 90 day temp license from OR - previously they told her she had to wait for an electric bill and she's been unable to drive.
  • To my friend in Hardin, THANKS! I'm only now starting to replace items and your generosity is a blessing.

Prayer Requests

  • We have had 8 children living in 4 bedroom base houses many times....however, the current climate seems to be to tell large families, "we have nothing to offer you." Pray for our housing. It appears that we will not be offered a 4 plex, as we had been led to believe, because it would be inadequate for our family size. It seems to me that should be our decision, as it was in the old days. It looks like Mike will either have to secure housing off base for us, or we will be granted an exception and have two apartments. The lady at the housing office said that the Towers (apartments) are only 40% occupied. This is BAD for the base and so they may well grant an exception and give us two apartments. Mike needs to know this fairly soon, so that he can secure off base housing (which goes FAST) if we aren't going to be offered on base housing. Pray for God's will. I believe GOD is leading us to Japan. I don't believe He'd bring us all this way and then have us live in a cardboard box beside a rice patty.....but....if that's the case we'll simply live our life and minister from the box. ::snort:: He's still God. He's still leading. He's still sovereign.
  • We need vehicles. Pray for Mike to find a good deal on a good car.
  • We are waiting on Stacia's birth certificate. Pray the Post Office finds Sgt. A without the suite number.
  • Bre needs a job! Either the one she interviewed for last night or another one.

I believe that's it for the day. I'll simply post here as I know it will end up on Facebook. Those of you who want to send updates to various lists etc, feel free. Just guard our privacy, if you think I've shared too much.

D'Etta,
I'm checking in on you guys every day! What a wonder woman you are to keep your thoughts together enough to write so eloquently! I am definitely interested to hear more about the housing situation in Misawa...we will have the same size family as yours arriving and no word has been mentioned to us about what we could/could not be offered. In fact, my husband's sponsor sent him and email a couple of weeks ago and said that they are no longer allowing people to move off base since so many on base houses are vacant. Like you, I had just assumed we would be offered a home in a 4-plex. Hmmm...interesting!
I'm still praying for you and have more admiration for your dignity under this 'refinement' than I know how to say. Can't wait to meet you in person!

Thanks for the prayers, Michelle and Therese.

Windy - stay tuned. We had heard the same and assumed the same. We got rid of things with the floor plan of the 4 plex firmly in mind. When Mike went to the office the only thing they offered him was the possibilty of being granted an exception because the towers are at 40% occupancy....I hope they grant us one. We were told they QUIT doing that 6 months ago and there would be no more families given two units. I really think we could make a 4 plex work...but if they don't give us that chance that seems to be our answer as to living on or off base. LOL

Of course "I" have to wonder WHY the Towers are at 40% occupancy - I mean if they are so bad that no one wants to live there unless they refuse to let you live OFF BASE.....do I really want two of them? ::snort:: I'm sure Mike will send photos.

Oh Windy, when you meet me in person you may not recognize me from blog photos...I've been eating a lot more than typical. ::snort:: Seriously...I no longer am mistaken for being pregnant...I look fat. LOL

I would travel the minute I had tourist passports. No one knows you are military and LOTS of people travel to Japan. You are not the military member. Sounds like airmen who never travel with a family are giving poor advice. We never used our offical passports- EVER. We always traveled with The blue passports or embassyblack. It makes you less of a target. Safety first. Maybe that is why God is making sure you have the US Blue!
As far as housing- several families I know got two apartments and insisted on a wall being knocked down between. That was Europe though....
Congrats on the employment!!! My nephew has been looking for several years up there:>)
Praying for all of your hopes and dreams of being together again soon.

D'Etta, my dear, if you take to Misawa a few extra pounds (around the middle), don't despair! Just remember that it's a LOT colder there than it is in Texas. God is just providing you with natural energy and warmth for the cold, long winter! :-) As for me, the last 6 months have been rather enlarging for my waistline, too. But think of all the winter sports we'll be able to do...pulling kids on sleds, snowshoeing, snow tunnel-building...those extra pounds will MELT off!
