9 Glass Floats

It's still fairly common to find glass floats along the beaches in Japan. I've not  PERSONALLY found any, but Twyla has given me one and the kids bought me a bunch for Mother's Day. You can find HUGE ones and I plan to go looking for some in the very near future.

The kids bought me this little basket and it holds 9 Japanese glass floats illuminated with battery-powered tea lights as we're not allowed to burn candles in our home.

NINE DAYS? SINGLE DIGIT! This is our guess.....even if it turns out this is day 11 or 13 or 18.....we'll be happy that for today we think it is NINE. LOL

Tasty Treat

Akikosan has gotten into the habit of bringing a treat each week during our Japanese lessons.  This is Arielle's favorite.

Evidently, this company, whose name I can't remember, makes little squares of chocolate. All VERY seasonal....so for a few days or a week we should be able to find these.  Yep - pancake chocolates. LOL She willingly ate the last one so I could get a photo of the inside for you. LOL

Chocolate on the bottom, graham cracker like middle, with MAPLE syrup oozing out and covered in white- butter-flavored chocolate. I simply don't ASK what the ingredients are....I figure if we eat clean most the time we'll survive our eating adventures in Japan.

Zoology gone Awry

Things are FINE, I've been busy since Sunday.

I've led two Bible studies, attended a board meeting and a lunch, had 3 Skypes with regional board members, taken Jared to 3 appointments, schooled, worked on the Workshop for the PWOCI Conference, ordered 9 weeks of school books, attended chapel, ran Jared to base to create worship slide show for Sunday, gone to the gym four times, washed about 83 loads of laundry, cooked numerous meals, taken numerous walks,  finished a Japanese lesson,  ordered some goodies for the aforementioned conference.....just busy.

This a.m. Zander and Stacia BEGGED for my camera. They needed to take photos of the DUCKS on the fence behind our home.  I let them do this as I hung laundry out.   This is the photo Zander took of the  DUCK.

I figure they scared the duck off...or maybe Zander got distracted. It happens. ::snort::  Regardless, I'm pretty sure he knows this is not  a duck?

Ten!

Eggs are sold by 10's instead of a dozen in Japan. The Farmer's Markets sell them by 11.

Twelve Travel Aids

These are often seen at the entrances to department stores. You put in Y200 and get out a small car, doll, puzzle or toy of some sort. I've heard this helps noisy young travelers.

Thirteen!

At an age where many girls are ill at ease and self-conscious....Arielle has blossomed! She's worked hard in the past year to overcome her shyness. She's allowing the Holy Spirit reign to shape her into a godly woman. She's a joy to mother.  Thirteen DAYS!!!!!!
