SEPARATION UPDATE

Time is passing...some days quickly and some days slowly. I believe we're 80% through the separation. Yesterday was tough. Zander broke down and cried and cried. He hates this house and wants to go live in our other house in AK. Who knew he remembered AK.....however as we talked it became apparent that he wanted to go back to a house where everyone STAYED PUT. Since we've moved here I had a baby, the girls left, the girls came back, grandma and grandpa came and then girls and grandparents left, girls came back, dad left, girls left, girls came back and girls left...... I think the poor boy really misses a "simpler" time. Though I loved AK I do not remember it as a "simple" time. It was a time when our family priorities got way out of line....but children remember things differently. Thank God for grace.

I share the story of Zander because it illustrates what I see most in the family dealing with. We actually are doing very well, but we miss those who aren't here....and we're ready to "be a family" again. Though, of course, we ARE a family. It's exciting to be able to sit and discuss these things with the children. I know this time is really drawing us closer as a family. I believe that it's giving all of us time to evaluate our priorities and how we spend our family time when we are together. It's a good thing. I learned how to fix the sink - that's got to be good. LOL

De'Etta--what a sweet little guy you have. I'm sorry he had a rough afternoon/day. It sounds like you did a great job of fighting through the tears to figure out what was beneath it all. Will everyone be home this summer? Where is your oldest ds going next year???

Hi Cutie
I am sure wanting to be home. I can not imagine the difficulties and issues that are tearing at families who are separated longer. Just for the record, I am more than 80%. :)

Love you
Mike

Poor Zander. It sounds like he is voicing what everyone is probably feeling. It is hard to feel so disjointed by seperations.

I am so glad you are using this time to learn and grow as a family.

May God shower you all with little blessings each day so you'll be reminded of His care.

Old enough to vacalize what everyone is feeling too young to understand the why's of the various seperations and comings and goings. ((((Zander and De'Etta)))). Hope the rest of the time passes quickly, at least for hubby to be home. I know it is longer for the girls.

Sis: Will just pray a bit harder. Separation is the hardest thing to go through. Dad/I felt a lot of what you are all going thru. Guess that is why we feel the need to pray for yo uall a lot. I sure use to get in alot of trouble when you kids left for school from ALL the other missionary ladies for the way I felt, and the way we pretty much stopped most everything when you were home for al but the summer vacation..... we did go and we did enjoy etc.

Anyway know Mike/You know how to get the most out of the times you are ALL at home. Those short periods of time become so precious.

Poor Alexander... he is such a sweet kid and so transparent with his feelings. Actually, that honest just may prove to be one of the super special things about him when he is an adult.

Goodness, you have become quite a strong person... a lot like G'Simmons when it comes to diving in and doing what has to be done etc.

Love you tons, definitely proud of you and Mike, and will be even praying more as the last bit of time runs down before Mike is home.

Kathy, Josiah doesn't know yet where he will be going. He's considering wide and varied options....from Bible Collge (to be a chaplain), local university (to get general credits cheaper) or possibly pursuing operating a Chick Fil A store....it was simpler when he wanted to be a fishing guide. LOL It will be fun to see what he ends up doing.

The girls will be home for a bit of time this summer. It will depend on what they end up doing. I've heard two options that are being considered most seriously...Bible Collge or intern with Master's Commission. Again, I think picking out phonics for them was easier than watching them wrestle with all the options - but not near as exciting. LOL
