Things That Have Me Wondering....

HOW do places such as Oriental Trading, Terry's World etc find new APO addresses and send catalogs....whilst Healthing Cooking, Taste of Home, State of Alaska... can't find a person even with change of address cards?????

Why did all but ONE photo album show up when the boxes are unpacked and where could it have gone?

Why do computers connect to the Internet at some times and not at others?

What happens when you reach 100% of your photo capacity with blogger? I've been using Photobucket but HATE their ads. I'm at over 90% of my limit on blogger....do some of you like Picasa? Does it have buxom women laying across the top of your screen?

If you are using Firefox as your browser, you should add the plug-in AdBlock Plus. It blocks 99% of those obnoxious ads. Plus, you can choose which websites to block. For instance, if you like the ads at a homeschool site you visit, you can allow them to show. HTH!

When I tried to use Firefox it crashed my computer....something with Vista or XP? Anyway - when I removed firefox the computer worked.....but I should see about adblock on IE...I know pop ups are blocked but there are in the screen itself - right above where I have to click for my photos. LOL

I'm at 80% photo capacity at Blogger after 3 years. I expect to reach 100% by early spring. I will just pay the extra $20 a year or whatever it is. I can't be bothered with doing Photobucket first. Too many steps.{g}

re 90% photos. I found this out by accident. Blogger "connected" my accounts. You can add a team member using a different email address. Then post as that team member and you'll get a whole new 100% to work through. LOL When my google/blogger accounts were accidentally merged it used a gmail addy that is actually one I started for my DH but he never uses. So I added his email to my "team". I don't think of this as cheating because if it's a family blog you should be allowed to have enough room for all the family photos and my kids do post photos or ask me to sometimes. Maybe I will add them to my team too.

(I don't think you mean ME Kristine, it's either another friend Kristine OR you are thinking of Cindy, who's done photobucket for a long time. :)

After two months of blogging, I had used up 25%. I began resizing my photos, and continue to resize everything to 600x800 for blogging purposes. After almost three years, I'm only at 56%. I know this does not help your current problem.

Picasa and Blogger are both owned by Google. Your blog photos that are using up that percentage of space are can be accessed through http://picasaweb.google.com/home
You will use your regular blogger login, I believe.

I wonder if you can resize existing photos already at the Picasa site--since these are the photos in your blog--AND have them keep the same exact name/code, so they'll continue to show up in your old posts from when you uploaded through blogger (which used Picasa).

I've never seen anything objectionable at Picasa, although I only visit the website 1-2 times a year. I use the program that I downloaded to my computer for photo editing.

Clear as mud? It gets confusing when a company (Google!) is so far reaching, further complicated by using a variety of names!

Kristine in VA - Mama ARcher is also Kristine and then there are two other Kristine's who comment....so I'll try to keep you all identified better. LOL

That google is into everything - which also explains why I search my name at google image and a bunch of blog photos show up. LOL

Not sure what I'll do.....I thought blogger said the automatically resized photos....at least 2 years ago when I was researching....but then I began to use PB because of the huge storage capacity.....

Oh - back THEN I had lots of trouble with blogger uploading photos...lots of times I would wait and then it wouldn't load....anyone still have troubles with that? It was when they were doing lots of beta things.

De'Etta - since everyone answered about the photo situation, I'll not tackle that...but I can give you some insight on the mailing thing.

When you post a general CHADD (CHange of ADDress) with the P.O. and something comes in to them, they use those lovely yellow labels (I'm SURE you know what I'm talking about!). 3rd class mail (ads, flyers, catalogs) never get forwarded to your address. These get a label placed on them and returned to sender. Someone at the catalog place (mail room) puts all of these into a CHADD file and they automatically regenerate your label and send you a catalog to your NEW address...completely unsolicited!

Subscribed magazines will be forwarded, and the P.O. does expect you to contact these subscriptions and let them know to change your address. (I believe they forward them for 3 months). Once beyond this time, the magazines are then labeled and sent back to the magazine company...where THEY use the same process with the CHADD. Sometimes, the CHADD process is quicker than filing a regular change with the magazine. Goes through different channels, and the CHADD's are big seller to the list buyers.

Oh...and if you start getting totally unrequested catalogs, chances are that these catalog companies requested CHADD's only from your magazines, etc.

From your friendly "former junk mail company" worker.

I've never had any photobucket ad problems.... I'm about 50% on my photobucket account and 85% or so on my blogger account. when my photobucket one is used up, I plan to open another. It works really fast for me now because I've figured out a few tricks like only picking a small # of photos to get html codes for at a time so they're easier to arrange on blogger, etc.... anyway.. I'm cheap so I like FREE and won't pay to store my photos somewhere.

cindy,

I've been using PB for two years and agree that it's quick, free and easy to use. The only thing I've not figured out is how to place a photo so the text wraps around it...but I've not really looked hard.

The problem is not PB and how it works, or me not being able to figure it out...the problem is the ad.

You don't have a very buxom, VERY scantily clad woman laying right next to the box that says "upload". I often have movie clips and then it shows her....sometimes just her....laying down so that all you see from your view downwind is her flowing hair, big eyes, and HUGE breasts.... I've emailed PB. I've tried all I can to rid it. The thing is it's NOT a pop up....it's for some Internet game....some text about "lord this and that"....I've had no response from PB and I've repeatedly contacted them.

I do not like Jared having to see that every time he goes to get a photo for his blog. We have taught him to bounce his eyes but it bugs ME.... SO....any ideas how to get rid of that?

AND will these sorts of ads pop up if I go back to blogger/picasa?
