TUESDAY? Sure feels like MONDAY! ::snort::

I continue to plow through laundry - the results of a 4 day weekend camping trip.

TOG only spends ONE WEEK studying Ancient China. They spent about the same amount of time in year 3 and year 4. That just isn't enough time for us. We are spending this week finishing up extra books, and doing hands on projects. So far we chose what we want to do and practiced with chopsticks.

I'll keep you informed as the week progresses. Yep, it's time to pull out the dead fish and make fish prints. ::snort::

Arielle and Nolan both finished books today.
Photobucket
Arielle has been bored with upper grammar and is reading all the dialectic (7-8 or 9th) lit reading and some of the history. We held her back a year because we didn't want her to graduate at 17 or young 18. HOWEVER, she is working hard this year to catch up in Language Arts and she's already doing the Jr High lit and some history reading....so I'll probably let her skip on up to 6th grade next year. Mike and I need to talk. The young graduate issues remain. If she skips to 6th next year (as an 11 yo) she'll graduate when she is 17. ::snort::

I went between supervising school, teaching math tips, and exploring China, to writing up this week's Bible Study homework, making 3 or 4 worksheets on how to do Word Studies, and copying things for tonight. I promised the kids that this would be the last Bible Study I write until summer..... However, I have one bouncing around in my head for 10 - 14 year old girls that I may have to write as I can't find what I want. ::snort::

I'm Sorry

Mike's day off is Friday. Today is a Federal holiday. Mike worked until 2:30 a.m. on Thursday so that he could have Friday off.

We left after produce co-op for a sort of spur of the moment camping trip. The older boys stayed home so we didn't want to blog that we were out of town.

I'm really surprised at how many emails and phone messages I received during the weekend. Thank you for your concern, love and prayers.
I'm doing fine healthwise - just doing my research and preparing to join the realms of Zocor users. ::snort::

An Unlikely Sight in TX

Photobucket
I had to drive back to get a photo! It IS cold here - 32* day time. That is REALLY cold for this area. We haven't had moisture and no other trees or yards are iced over except all the trees in this park. We can only guess that the city's sprinklers came on early this a.m. ::snort::Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

Trucks, Walls, and Plays

PhotobucketI left the house at 8:30 Tuesday a.m. to go meet the United Truck. It was fun to have FOOD in the house again - you know "real food". ::snort:: I think things went well - and I learned a lot of ways to make our next order more efficient.

Bible study was last night. We had a LOT of material to get through - and we did it. Shew...next week we'll discuss our homework, learn how to do Word studies, and continue to dive into the book of Ephesians.

We did a teeny bit of couch school yesterday. The older boys continue to rush on at their own pace. Our curriculum only had one week scheduled for Ancient China - and that is this week. I've decided that the younger ones we'll do at least two....there is SO much to learn and do - I hate to spend one week on it. We are going at a pace seperate from the older boys. This has advantages and disadvantages!

Zander decided to make the Great Wall of China.

My day today began bright and early with a trip to the doc. UGH. I came home with Synthroid (I've taken that for years so that wasn't a surprise) and Zocor (now THAT was a bummer). He was appalled that I've had high cholesterol numbers for 3 years and have managed to talk them into letting me continue trying diet and exercise. He says if it was going to work it would have by now. He did think our lifestyle changes HAVE been helpful in terms of who knows what would have happened without them...but he thinks I need meds. He spent quite a long time with me discussing all the ins and outs. He's convinced it's time to start meds. I remain unconvinced. I do have the pills and will be discussing with Mike the big topic of "swallow or flush" the Zocor that is. ::snort::

I got home and wanted to do a bit of research on the internet. We didn't get couch school done. BUT we got lots of table school done. THEN the kids decided to prepare a play. It worked.

Speed

Photobucket Kelly - is it loading quicker? I took off tons of side bar items...and the scrolling verse at the bottom. It loads quick for me. ::snort:: Let me know if you notice a change in speed at all.

Speaking of speed - Jamin moves incredibly fast. He always has. The joke in our small town when he was a toddler is that he never learned how to walk. He began to RUN immediately! He races around here ALL the time.....and evidently he does the same at work. He's been asked twice now if he's on crack - two different occassions. I keep telling him to take a deep breath...this boy is going to RUN to meet his destiny.

Another Monday

I'm so surprised at how much I accomplished today!

I worked out.

I read another 12 pages in "The Bible in 90 Days".

We got school done. We really got school done. The kids all seemed interested in the books we were reading on Ancient China. We only have one week on this area - I think we'll stretch it a bit. We shall see.

We went to speech. Nolan is doing so well.....in fact his READING has sky rocketed. I'm excited. He's a bit "behind" because we focused solely on his speech for his K and 1st grade years. I was surprised that that 3 week break seemed to accelerate his reading! ::snort::

I made more copies for tomorrow night. I did some more work on study.

Tonight was to be our first United co-op. The truck didn't show up. It will come in the morning. I have heard this before about United. TCW/Shop Natural always had the driver call us the day before and give us an appt. say 5:15 p.m. But we'll adjust.
I even cleaned house and did 5 loads of laundry.
Josiah started his new semester. He has two new profs. Instead of 3 long days of classes; he'll be taking 5 shorter days. His plan is to be able to study a couple of hours before work each day at the campus library...rather than studying after work until 1 a.m. (and um...the rumor is we're a bit noisey around here).
Nothing earth shattering, but I feel like I'm starting to get a handle on the new schedule.
