Giving Thanks ~ Day 11!

~I'm thankful that I picked up the phone last night at 10:30 p.m.

~I'm thankful that my flight is cancelled...this gives me time to sleep in, go to the gym, handle some paperwork....and say goodbye to my babies this a.m.

~I'm thankful that Zander seems fine this a.m.

~I'm thankful that my flight is rescheduled and there are no storms....because anything out of here is a puddle jumper....and y'all know I'm a white knuckled puddle jumper flier....flyer...flying person. ::snort::

~I FINALLY had time to call the dentist - been trying to do that since July. She said, "Did you just get the December reminder card?"

"No.....I am calling in reference to the JUNE reminder card!" ::snort::

Everyone's a Coach! Or Doug has the Patience of Job!

My friend, Deja, sent me this in an email today. It's too good to keep to myself. Thank you, Doug, for your patience....we'll try to keep him off the bench from now on. ::snort:: While we're on basketball, please pray for Jared (14) knee. Not sure if it's just sore or needs to be seen...and you know I'm LEAVING - right? Peace, Darshia's praying that I have peace. I don't much like leaving my babies at home, y'all. LOL

Deja's Words:

Doug told me about the intense game with Abilene. Mike and the kids were sitting right behind the bench. With the players around him, Doug would write out a play on his clipboard for them. When the players would go back out on the court, Alex would come and sit next to Doug...

"What are you writing?"

"Plays for the guys so they know what to do."

"You know what I think they should do? {licks his lips} I think you should tell them to go out, run around and around in circles until the other team gets tired of it and quits."

Back to the peanut gallery.

Doug thinks to himself, "I'm trying to keep my kids from getting crushed and Alex is helping out by offering his 2 cents."

He was really humored by it all.

I was really , really , really humored by it all."

I Take it Back! Prayer Request!

A few posts below I suspected that Zander was plotting to have a "good time" on quarantine.

Photobucket

This a.m. I woke up to the above. He HAS a fever. I'm not sure what is going on, because he insists it's the game piece he swallowed months ago. He's had water and will have meds later as needed. I've taken him a banana.

Please do pray this is quick and doesn't go through the whole family. I leave on a plane in the a.m. Mike leaves on Thursday. BreAnne is flying out to spend 4 days of fun and adventure with the children at home......and I don't want her to have to deal with sick kidlets the whole time we're gone. Of course, my quarantine routine usually keeps it from flying through the entire home. BTW Zander on the couch broke a big quarantine rule. ::snort::

Giving Thanks ~ Day 9!

~I'm thankful for dedicated homeschool yearbook staff who took all the children's photos today. (I still think I'm on to something with the flu shot/picture day idea. ::snort::)

~I'm thankful for sermons that challenge me (and I'm thankful to be married to the pastor who delivered the sermon - he lives what he preaches). Today I got to hear it TWICE - Christianity isn't for Cowards....deny yourself, pick up your cross, follow me. I laughed as it took 5 "follow mes" to get someone in the traditional service to get up and follow him.....but in the student service the first call netted results....I get the sense these students are used to complying with orders.

~I'm thankful for a 2o year old young man who calls me Mom and continually makes me proud by the character he exhibits. It's fun to watch them grow up - not ALL painful. ::snort::

~I'm thankful I got my board report finished and uploaded to the region's yahoo group files. Shew.....it would be embarrassing to be the Internet person and not get that done. ::snort::

~I'm thankful Emma reminded me that I can send luggage up with Mike and the ladies on Thursday...this means I may NOT have to pay for bags on Tuesday....if I can wear the same thing a few days.

~I'm thankful God is still on the throne!

~I'm thankful I remembered I was supposed to finalize our group's United order as I closed the computer. ::snort::

Oy Vey - The Characters I Live With!!

For instance:

Zander (6) came out from bed to tell me he has a fever. He doesn't. I played along.

"Mom, in the morning can someone bring me food in bed?"

"OK," says I, "I'll remember that."

"Can YOU bring me food in bed? You know what food I like. No one else does. I'd like a banana for breakfast and a banana and apple for lunch."

I suspect he is plotting to be quarantined. My kids love this as I dig out the t.v. and they can watch movies.....all healthy people have to stay out of the room.....and I bring them food. ::snort::

Or take this example: Stacia and I went out shopping yesterday while everyone else was busy. We had a great time. I often say to her, "Stacia, you are a GOOD girl." As we were checking out of one store, she looked up at me and said, "Mommy, you are being a GOOD Mom." ::snort::

Someone in the store commented to Stacia - ahem - "Ah, you must be having a great day with your Grandma." EXCUUUUUUSE ME? I mean I know that I was over 40 when I had the girl but still....I don't think I look like a grandma yet.... AnyWAY....from that point on Stacia has been calling me "Mommy Bam-ma" (her word for my mom).

Zander again: We were buying things for the shoe boxes and a nice gentlemen who works at Dollar Tree asked Zander, "What are you going to be when you grow up?"

He replied, "Your boss!" ::snort:: ::gasp:: ::hiccup::: Maybe another business major in the family?

And what about these two?

Photobucket

What could they be doing in a public restaurant? I missed the photo where they both had their knees bent, hands up and were shuffling back and forth....yep...Dad doing a bit of basketball coaching....in Burger King.

My characters. Ah well, I know my sense of humor sometimes embarrasses them....and life is never dull around here, I wouldn't trade a minute of it.

Giving Thanks ~ Day 8

~I am thankful that all the parts of the day worked well together.

~I am thankful for a day spent almost entirely alone with Stacia (3). It was fun.

~I am thankful that Nolan is having a great time with the Nutcracker.

~I am thankful the SACHSA Basketball team won their game against Midessa 24/15..... (no photos).

~I am thankful the day is over - it's been busy. LOL
