Jared and I had really hoped to get a definitive idea of what is going on with his ankle today....unfortunately....we still don't know. They did another x-ray. They told him to stay on crutches at least another 3 weeks. To continue icing....seems that as it heals, they'll be able to tell more of what is going on....and they want to wait 3 weeks for a MRI. They saw a bone bruise and are wondering if it will resolve or require surgery....we wait.
We've finally admitted he's out for the football season. He has 3 - 9 weeks of crutches left - depends on how things work in the next 3 weeks. He also has appointments with physical therapy.
AND his lab results are back...but his blood pressure is still high. It has been "fun" to get lots of letters from the Mayo clinic. ::snort:: He is now scheduled for more lab tests, 5 day blood pressure readings and kidney ultrasound. We appreciate your prayers for either healing or an ANSWER as to why our very healthy 16 year old is having blood pressure readings of 153/92. He runs. He lifts weights. He doesn't eat HFCS, fried foods, caffeine, sodas......The doc seemed more concerned about this than the ankle - which really frustrated Jared. Dr. didn't buy my theory that the blood pressure is all about Mike being gone. I'm going for the theory of a faulty blood pressure reading machine now.....and the nurse probably just didn't hear well when she did it. LOL
BUT we did get lots of packages today....from Mom (see countdown post):
From Math U See....Stacia was EXCITED and said, "Now I just need someone to send me the alphabet!"
Off to watch a movie with the kids....we've earned it. LOL

Amusing Seefood
Catch the name of the top right hand entree. I also liked the "fatty flesh of tuna" - so appetizing.

TERRRRRRIFFFIC Tuesday
Busy day - good day.
Arielle, Stacia and I went to the chapel bright an early for the kick off of this year's Tuesday PWOC studies. Wow....over double the total number of ladies in studies this year. I'm teaching Covenant on Monday night and Tuesday a.m.
After study, Stacia asked if we could go to her favorite place. I braced myself for "Burger King." You don't see this at Burger King.
We went to Kappa Sushi for the chicken. ::snort:: I counted everything and didn't find a 33.
Ran Jared to football. Ran to the commissary. Ran to the post office and then home. We received this in the mail...
It's gorgeous, Michael. A once in a lifetime chance (I pray) to pick up an authentic Afghanistan carpet in country.
Ran home and visited with the neighbor across the street. Ran to pick up Jared. THEN....zipped to pick up Mary....and Twyla...and went to the ONSEN. YES. I haven't done that since June. As I came in to the house tonight the stars were bright and plentiful, the crickets were chirping and I remembered again all the reasons I love living in Japan.

Whirlwind Preaching Engagement - Michael
This past Sunday, my chaplain assistant and I went to Camp Souter for a preaching engagement. I had invited the British chaplain over a few weeks back, and it was my turn to preach over there. The city was quiet so there were no issues with safety. The setting is rather barren, though. Padre M is out of the Church of Scotland. These visits are always fun. Usually, they have BBQ on Sunday, but not this time. They did have some dynamite casaba mellon, though. We arrived with a little bit of time to chat and have tea. Went to the D-Fac to eat then headed to the chapel - very sparse. The service was only 30 minutes long. I had more than half of it with the message. Immediately after the service, and I mean "amen" put on IBA and run to catch the shuttle kind of immediate, we were on our way back to "home." It is always nice to go somewhere for even a couple of hours, but to go somewhere and get to preach? Well, that really is about as good as it gets over here.
Blessings

Chapel Improvements - Michael
The inside of the chapel has steadily improved over the months. People have donated curtains, pictures, rugs and a carpet runner. It has been nice to see things get better. We were working toward some sort of a sash to cover the big speakers that are way up front, but we could not get the cooperation of the engineering folks to put up the hangers, and we were dealing with a tailor who was coming up with a rather outrageous price for the work. So, it appears this part of the project is not going to happen. Oh well...
Blessings

Living all of life before the face of God...
The drum set is new, and our musicians are loving it. It, apparently, is a rather good set of drums. They are saying it is professional quality. The way they beat on them, I hope the quality is up to the challenge and the stress.
This is the view from the platform looking toward the back of the sanctuary. The door at the very back leads to the pavillion area.
