Day 5 - Dip Netting 2020

Today is Day 5 - and we have most the fish we wanted...but TODAY IS A HUGE DAY - Carrie and Livie joined us. At this point Josiah and Carrie had been dating a  2 or 3 months. Carrie and Liv had visited the house once. We were excited to spend time with them and get to know them better. This was their first time dip-netting.  Olivia is shore crew with me.

The first part of fishing any tide is carrying the nets and coolers to the shore...and then assembling the nets.

Liv was a great asset to shore crew. She loved bonking Josiah's fish.

A quick clip...8 p.m. at night.

Back at camp - cleaning fish. Liv was full of questions and Josiah loved answering them all. Carrie commented to me, "I think Josiah will be a good dad, don't you?"

"Oh, yes! I agree."

The freezer is full and the coolers are filling up.

Day 4 - Dip-netting 2020

And so begins Day 4 of fish camp....fileting, sealing and freezing last night's catch.

Stacia is patting the fish dry with paper towels before we put them into bags.

A word about the camping...this place requires a 5 night stay to be in a spot during July - fishing season. I certainly don't understand WHY - but they do. They also nickel and dime one but that's common when most your $ is made in one month.  This year we are in a quad. There are 4 pull through RV spots with a big green area in the middle. Tents are allowed there.  We were happy and surprised when two of the spots were taken up with Ed, Jennifer and their group. It made it easy to visit back and forth though we weren't with each other....I liked it.  The problem is...for all the room for tents...our tenters told us it's NOISEY.  People often walk through the common area and don't know there are folks trying to sleep between tides in the tents. Kids throw balls which hit the tent....dogs stop by...

Stacia finds a way to sleep wherever she is. LOL

This took the cake! A pig! Yep - a pig snorting around the tent.  In following years we stayed in a super size site...which provides more privacy for the tenters.

Visiting with Lori - from the "group" - introducing pups.

The freezer is filling up.

In the late afternoon evening we headed to the beach....this was to be a big day for me personally. I'd tried to fish before and ended up under water both times. THIS time Krista and Stacia coached me and I CAUGHT a salmon, of course Stacia helped me drag it in...but I'm counting it.

It was fun to catch up with Jen on the beach. Jen is also on the women's ministry team at church.

We notched the fins of the fish I caught so I could grab a photo when we were cleaning fish. Since I take photos, and I was fishing...there are no photos of the momentous event as it happened.

Day 3 - Dip Netting 2020

The perfect way to begin an early morning at fish camp. I enjoyed sitting with the word and some tea outside....an apple and a keto brownie...I don't know - it works. I took Millie for a walk - she did fine until we ran into a bunch of llamas in the road. LOL  Willy went home today. Luke came out to spend the day with Krista. At this point they were newly dating.

This morning the fish that were cleaned last night were pulled out, cut into fillets, packaged in bags, sealed and placed in our freezer.

I love this crew.

Today we met up with the family who took us dip netting our first year. We didn't realize they had booked a spot right by us...so it was fun to have time together on the beach and at the cleaning station.  Stacy and Britney came this year - which made the whole trip even better.

Soon it was time to head to the beach and begin chasing the tide.

The days are long [- but so satisfying. The long hours in the water leads to lots of time to catch up....and the same can happen on the beach. We love this family break...and it's even better when we run into friends.

The trip tally...Jamin and Willy are going home.
