Organizing Spices....

When I said I had organized spices and it was a big job....I'm sure some of you didn't get it. I ordered a box full of spices from Monterey Spice Company. They are wonderful....very strong smelling etc. BUT I had no place to store them. I really like glass and hate plastic....but I wanted something airtight to keep out bugs and help maintain freshness. I ordered what I thought would be enough Tupperware to store the spices. I need three bigger ones and 3 smaller ones and I'll be done....
So here are MOST of my spices, neatly organized. I still have NO idea where I'll put all these! The little glass jars are darling. I bought those to fill with small amounts of spices and to store in my cupboard.

BTW - as a recovering perfectionist, I KNOW I made progress because NONE of this is alphabetized...the label maker ran out of tape, and I wasn't running errands with sick children...so I used a sharpie...I began doing cute dot letters and realized....I'm slipping...so I lettered the names and figured I can always remove the ink later if it totally bugs me.....::snort::

WOW!
I have my spices on two lazy susans in my cabinet near the stove. They are alphabetical so it's easier to find them as I turn the lazy susan.....

THis is what we need to do! We buy them in large quantities too, and we tend to want every spice we hear of. :) So, we have the largest cabinet in the kitchen as the spice cabinet... small glass jars on the bottom shelf, plastic containers in the middle, and odd things or things that I don't want to hunt for (like vanilla extract) on the top shelf. Your set up looks much nicer and much easier to deal with!

way to go! Fully understand the perfectionist thing..... but definitely as I have gotten older I don't care. Happy eating with flavor.

Comedy: I did a number on my ankle Friday and am gimping around on crutches (mostly just one). Dad & I coming into church today will probably draw some nutty comments. :):)

Will/Sherri picked him up in the morning yesterday and then I took him back at 6pm. He also gets out for the day today because someone is around to care for him. :)

Way to go! Super job!

I can really relate to the perfectionist tendencies. It is so hard to fight the urge to make it just so.

You are so funny:) I was just imagining those fancy dotted letters...

It looks nice! I have all my pantry stuff in ziploc bags for now. Maybe I'll get a wild hair and buy all those nice containers, they look so "neat":)
