Photobucket STUPEFYING SUNDAY/Camping Food/Pre-departure List

The day was filled with our normal Sunday routine. We went to the Traditional Service. We went to Burger King ::blech::. Mike stayed at the office. The kids and I came home.

We continued to work various lists....

The boys loaded The Caboose with kayak, tents, water, camp chairs...

They were pulling my chain - they didn't REALLY load the kayak into the trailer....they put it under the trailer in the storage unit.

We turned 9 lbs of ground beef/turkey into pans and pans of cooked meatballs. "Someone" mistakenly mixed the BBQ sauce that I usually pour over meatballs with the meat mixture...but yum they're tasty. We may do it like this in the future.

Arielle made 4 batches of "Shake N Bake" mix.

I made 3 batches of "Instant Oatmeal".

I think we need to go buy a case of apples...THIS is not going to be enough for the trip.

If you've ever wondered what the inside of a grain mill looks like....

No, we aren't worried about the warranty. I bought it used for $50 ten years ago. We've been grinding a lot yesterday and today. It started slowing down again, backed up with flour, started smelling and quit. One of these times Mike will not be able to get it started again.

We went to the Contemporary service.

We came home and continued working the pre-departure list.

I updated the local PWOC blog. I've felt chained to the computer lately. This mess will need cleaned up before I leave.... note the multi-colored spreadsheet - my TOG planning sheet. ::snort::

we often mix barbecue sauce into ground beef for variety...I even do it with burgers...though, if I put too much sauce (as I am wont to do at times!), then I throw in some breadcrumbs (not a lot) to help the meat hold together better.

Sounds like you are going to have a GREAT Time camping!!!

What a wonderful PWOC newsletter!
I can't believe your chapel is so supportive, that is AWESOME!!! They won't pay anything for us here.
Have a wonderful trip!

Well - my WW points spreadsheet thing is color coded too. ::snort:: I must have color!

Amy & Linda - notice the water bottle. ::snort:: Yes, Linda - we threw in extra meat and breadcrumbs and they are yummy....the added bonus being I won't make sauce to top them - just serve them with rice while camping. Less ingredients to carry.

Jodi - Various factors play into what a group can do in way of helping. Budget....vision of Sr Prot chaplain etc. In AK they paid 100% of the fees other than transportation (which was significant from AK to NC but we all had airline miles).....here transportation will be FREE - we are taking an AF van - so the only cost is the cost PWOCI is charging which is very reasonable.....we have learned over the years to have a non-refundable amount for ladies to pay. Each year that I've taken women to FF or planned a retreat we've had some who can't come at the last minute and we've had to pay for them anyway.....so our Sr Prot (who is my husband) has a vision for PWOC, was all for us scrimping in other ways to afford to help women, but asked that we have it cost enough that ladies would seriously consider the schedule before we registered them. God provided for us HUGE this year. Our chapel is tiny and our PWOC budget is VERY tiny....but our wing agreed to buy ALL our Bible study material for a year (that $ then could go to conf) and we decided not to host our own spring retreat and put that $ to helping women attend conf too. I'm excited.....now I hope women will attend. (Hope - as in Greek hope - eagerly looking forward to expected benefit/outcome). It's been awesome to watch God work this out for our small group.

"What the inside of a grain mill looks like"? I'd first have to know what a grain mill IS!

(And I'm happily ignorant, I'll just trust you, lol.)
