There is more to life than SCIENCE!

From 2010-02-10
{Zander spent time this a.m. making the fan blow and the light bulb shine at the same time. AND trying to explain how and why it worked to MOM.}

All the other children seem to have instinctively known there was more to life than science. Maybe it was the time we were trying to do an experiment with eggs and I let them boil dry, as we became engrossed in our history reader. BAM, POP....ZING.... what a mess and what a smell exploding, boiled eggs make. In any case, they've enjoyed science , but no one begs for it first, plays at science all the time, lives, eats and breathes science. This has led me to find very fun things to do in science so that the kids and I will look forward to it enough to want to study science. None of them have been really, really science minded.

I was shocked when I heard myself saying this a.m., "Zander, there is more to life than SCIENCE." ::snort:: Who would have guessed?

OK - in HIS life there is SCIENCE....there's also war....and since I don't want to read, play, eat and breathe war......I think it is time to begin to read, play, eat and breathe science. Surely, I can find some fun science "first step readers"..... and math oozes from science..... maybe he'll grow up to be an engineer.

Does he know and can he explain in layman's terms how batteries "run down"? Jun asked Ryu. Ryu asked me. Now it's Your turn! We don't know!

Alexander (my man):

HI: G'Ma so loves that you and I are sharing today as our birthdays. AND even Josiah enters the picture for me.

You have been such an awesome grandsom Alexander. You are one good lookin dude. You have always been fun to be around and how your 2G's T. have loved each and every time you have sat down to visit with us. We cherish the times you have let us just love and hold you. Really, there have been times.

This past summer was a blessing to us. I really had fun helping you and your other brothers/sisters to build that tree house by the house in Eugene... what fun and you sure did help me nail up those ladder boards. :):)

Can hardly wait for you to get older to see just what you are going to be doing...... bet each year is going to be lots of fun.

Enjoy your day!!
We are very proud of you and how you are doing so well in school. Loved seeing your picture above as you study some science. Looks like you are enjoying yourself.

love/prayers/hugs/kisses -- your 2G's T.

We have a similar kit, but ours doesn't have the flying disc, despite the claims on the box that we could make things propel. Regardless of that we still enjoy it just the same! It is so much fun and every hands on! Glad to see someone else that enjoys those things as well.

Is that the Radio Shack electronic circuit thingy? Josh took an online class using it which was really good. If you want the info, let me know.

Not Radio Shack - from Home Training Tools I think...the science company in Billings or maybe from Timberdoodle....hmmm....but it's a huge set of circuits and such....we've added to them each year. Sure send info about the online class.

The set to me looks just like the edu-science set that we bought at Toysrus for $30. The set is pictured with the propeller thing, but ours did NOT have one and one is not listed on the actual part list that came with the box. So we figure there must be other sets.
