Photobucket Election Adventures

Jamin called the party office and chatted with them. He set it up for me to go pick up yard signs, bumper stickers and pins. They told me to bring the sign in at night because they are having quite a bit of trouble with folks defacing and stealing them. Wow! I would think everyone would be content to simply have their own opinion and vote their conscience. Oh well. We've never had yard signs, but we do now.

Unfortunately, these were the only pins they had....none of the boys are going to wear them. LOL

Photobucket Election Unit Study

Thursdays are SO Busy! I'm not even going to tell you everything we did today or what we did not finish today. I'm totally standing in awe of God's grace that allowed to much to be done in 17 short hours. ::snort::

HOWEVER - our election books are coming together. The "Election link" in the sidebar will take you to a list of resources we have used. We combined elements from 2 or 3 free lapbooks we discovered.

Tonight, we were ready to try to put it all together.....we needed more folders. We TRIED to glue three together as instructed in one spot....the glue is STILL drying. I got out our old Thanksgiving Lapbook and re-taught myself how to combine folders...and now we can add as many pages as we need.

The older boys have been watching incessant internet clips, reading articles, listening to radio etc. I let Zander out of the lapbook and he sat in with our reading. Arielle and Nolan did lapbooks in addition to our other activities.

Will these fit in a folder?

He has this page to color in states on election night...and write about the outcome. We'll also make a page or two on the Ice Cream Election.

Photobucket Fall!!??!

I love fall....it's snuck up on me this year. I can hardly believe that tomorrow is the last day of October. It is TRUE that years begin to zip by sometime in your fourth decade. ::snort:: I miss the change of seasons, putting out decorations did give me blessed relief from the political angst in my life.

Tuesday, the younger four and I set everything aside and dug out fall decor. Here are some shots of outside.

We usually have our *Jesus pumpkin* up and shining - but not this year. We plan to carve it tomorrow afternoon; after produce co-op and before basketball practice. ::snort::

Arielle and I made this the year Mike was deployed. Each leaf has a verse on it about being thankful. I loved the focus and the memory of a shared sweet moment during a difficult season.

Photobucket OFFICIAL G FAMILY ICE CREAM ELECTION

We are hi-jacking Mom's blog for the good of our education.

We are going to have Produce co-op members vote tomorrow in the OFFICIAL G FAMILY ICE CREAM ELECTION.

Mom says we are a cutting edge type of family. We're going to have internet voting too for those who can't make it to the poll.

Please vote in the side bar. Each person in your family can pick their favorite flavor. If you don't have enough computers, leave your votes in the comment section.

We couldn't figure out how we'd know which write in you wanted with poll form, so leave write in votes in the comment section too.

Thanks!

Vote early - vote often! JUST KIDDING.
Arielle and Nolan

De'Etta back - with the new scheduled posting I'm not sure HOW to make a post (with comments) stay at the top of the page. Any ideas? Do I just have to continually repost this until after Nov 4th? For now I'll put the link in the sidebar note.

I took photos ~ ::snort::

Photobucket I'm Blogging

Hmmm....I crossed 12 things off my to do list. There were 11 left. LOL

I am most excited to have David and BreAnne's tickets finalized for Christmas.

Josiah called and had voted early. His first time to vote.

I made cookies.

Arielle and Nolan and I spent a couple of hours working on their electon lap books. They have voter registration cards....I thought it would be fun for them to have an absentee ballot - and I have one that missed us a few cycles back. I was going to put it in their lapbook....and then I realized it is MY Presidential absentee ballot. THAT was close.

Photobucket CALL OUT THE SEARCH AND RESCUE SQAUDS!!!

Goodness, I've not sent a "family life" update since Thursday. I apologize, Mom.

I cannot remember what we did on Friday - but I am sure it was a full day. ::snort::

I got to go have fun with PWOC friends on Saturday. We went to the Pottery Ranch. You can see photos of that here. Unfortunately, I've not learned to tell business owners, friends etc. that their scented candles will give me migraines. I didn't even notice the candle until I noticed PAIN. I have maxalt but it knocks me out...and I didn't want to take one until I got home. I slept the rest of the day.

Sunday - I slept some more.

Monday - Another great day - Mom's Night Out for our Homeschool Support Group. I really enjoyed the testimony/talk of our guest speaker - Betsy. One of her sons flies the unmanned planes in the USAF and another is at Harvard. I really enjoyed talking afterwards about the unmanned crafts. ::snort::

Before Mom's Night Out a dear friend and I met for dinner. (Hey, Julie). I was so glad she called to remind me that we were doing that. I was fried and had forgotten.

I spent much of Monday with school and working on projects.

Saturday, I was given permission to work on a project that I've been chomping to try since July. In retrospect, I should have done it THEN and mothballed it until the approval came through. I kept thinking I didn't want to spend the hours on it and have it not approved. Guess I'll spend the hours now. ::snort:: I'm very excited about this and will say more when I have the final approval to share more. (If you are a careful blog reader you've figured it out, I'm sure.) ::snort::

Debbie, saved my bacon and most likely my sanity with a few design tips. Check out the new Goodfellow look. I can't wait.....OK enough of that..... I'm really itching now to change the look of THIS blog....but I'm trying to stay focused on finishing projects FIRST. I know it will take a bit of time to change this one with all the sidebar widgets. I really LIKE change and I've had this look for 8 months now. I like it - but I am itching to try something new. I thought playing with other projects would take care of this itch....but the itch is there, I just don't have the time to do much damage. YET....maybe tomorrow night when all are at work and CAP. LOL

Tuesday - School, PWOC Bible Study, and FALL DECOR - photos to follow.

TODAY - I'm caught up - well not in real life, but on the blog. I have put in the produce order, emailed the produce co-op, supervised a bit of school, gone to the gym, and worked on a project.

Photobucket Word Press vs. Blogger

Yes, I've been neglecting you dear blog reader, family and friends. I promise to carve out some time to update by tomorrow night. Maybe this afternoon...who knows? ::snort:: I'm not ill...simply busy and working on a project.

For now, I need more input. I've been involved in a team blog that used Word Press. I've also used Blogger (um - duh! ::Snort::).

Please share with me any insight you have about how the two compare. Pros? Cons?

I am currently playing with both venues. Here is what I have learned:

Blogger is MUCH easier to add things such as God Tube videos, music, slideshows and graphics in the side bar. (Is this because I haven't worked on that part of a Word Press blog?). I've been told that you cannot add javascript to Word Press unless you pay for that feature. Is this true?

Does Word Press have the same security features that Blogger has? I'm assuming that I'm simply missing the link to the info. Blogger automatically asked me what security features I wanted.

I like the TABS at the top of many Word Press blogs, the navigation bar. I have a tutorial on how to do this on blogger...but it isn't working for me.

If I have Word Press suck up a current Blogger blog, does the blogger blog still exist or does it go away? THEN I could play with both.

Maybe, I should spring for a blog designer to make what I want and be done with it. I know for THIS blog it was much simpler to finally pay Michelle to install a template that I could then manage. Let's face it - I spent HOURS trying to design what I wanted and messed it up quite thoroughly. ::snort::

Anyway, I'd love to hear what YOU all think about using Word Press and Blogger. I'd especially like to hear from you if you've used both. Is it all a matter of personal preference? BTW don't tell me you like the "look" of Word Press because all blogs "look" different and you can find a designer to make either one "look" just right. LOL

Thanks, y'all!
