On to Watson Lake, Yukon Territory - Day 10 of our AlCan Road Trip

#WYFF (Where's Your Feet Friday)  and we are somewhere FUN!

The road took us from Liard Hot Springs into Downtown RV in Watson Lake, Yukon Territory.

Today's "mishap" - the instruments went out in Uchi.

Great country for listening to "The Fellowship of the Ring," which Nolan and I are doing.

Yukon Territory - Larger than Life

The scenery begins to change, but it's still beautiful.

I continue to note phone booths. LOL

After implementing Michael's photo strategy yesterday, we caught Mountain Sheep, we all wanted to see BEARS and MOOSE again and Bison. We did - most photos will be in the Wildlife Recap post to follow.
Big as life - crossing the highway

We quickly learn which road signs signal rough roads ahead.

Have met several hard corp motorcyclists on the highway

Michael and the kids went to the Sign Forest at Watson Lake. I had some sort of strange pain attack. We really began to think we'd have to find an ER - but I told them to take me back to Uchi and went to bed with a heating pad. The pain subsided (lower right side).

I'd love to come back here with a sign to add!  The Downtown RV Park wasn't anything to write home about, though it was fine for an overnight. It WAS across the street from this great lake/park.

On to Liard Hot Springs - Day 9 of our AlCan Road Trip

We've not had the connectivity to blog daily since 14 June.....and the blog is how I document "life." I tried to keep notes but after six days the driving begins to blur......but here is my attempt to chronicle our amazing road trip. The experience has been well-worth 5 or 6 days of being unplugged from phones and internet. 😁😛😊

We left Triple G Hideaway and began our drive through more gorgeous territory on our way to tonight's stop at Liard Hot Springs.

The highway signs said, "WATCH FOR BISON ON THE ROAD." We eagerly watched, and didn't see a single one. We did see: bear, hawks, falcons, mountain sheep and beaver dams. I've decided to do one post showcasing wildlife and mishaps, rather than add even more photos to the daily posts, which are already photo heavy.

As we entered areas where we were told we'd see more wildlife, Michael suggested I take my camera from Alex. Alex was in the passenger seat of Uchi and was taking wonderful scenery shots.....but Nimo (Jeep) was able to stop quicker for photos, than the motorhome. I was trying to capture beauty with my cell phone.  I didn't want to take Alex's job from him. Michael suggested a stop about an hour in to the day's driving. He gave me HIS FANCY- SCHMANCY -VERY- HEAVY -Nikon D 610, with the full frame, MAMBO lens. He would flash blinkers to alert us to wildlife on either side of the road, we would stop, I would take photos with his camera. This worked well! Michael was in the lead AND is GREAT at spotting wildlife. I was a bit appalled at how close I can be to a bull moose or bear and not notice  until it was pointed out to me. I'll be working to improve on those skills. 😕

Roller Coaster Roads

Such a pretty drive

We hit our first unpaved sections today.

We were happy to reach Liard Hot Springs Provincial park!!!! We DID fit in their site - 38 foot RV, pulling a 10 ft trailer, followed by a Jeep - all in one site. This is dry camping. There is a RV Park across the road with full hook ups.  We like State Parks and were happy to stay in one after so many nights in "RV Parks."

We updated our travel map and realize where we need to travel next. ::snort::
It's bothering me GREATLY that Alaska and Hawaii are stuck below TX
Michael and the boys took the wheels off and got to business with the trailer brakes! This was the last night of brake work on the trip.

Liard Hot Springs are lovely. This is a spot we certainly want to re-visit. They are the second largest natural springs in Canada.

 Still smiling 9 days in!

On to Fort Nelson, BC - Day 8 of AlCan Road Trip

Here it is! Our wheels finally begin rolling down the Alaskan Hwy.
Good shot, Nolan.
We've had gorgeous traveling weather. We'll take a day of rain and overcast. At least the fog eventually lifted enough to see the mountains again.  We started late as Michael and the boys continued "messing with the brakes."

If one has to stop for mechanical issues - this is a nice spot.....though one begins to realize how isolated the road can be. 😅🚐☁☂

We've had quite a windshield wiper story. We bought the first set at Camper World and it was missing a part. We bought a new set in Colorado Springs and it was wrong somehow. We mailed them back to Colorado Springs. Michael ordered the right set with all the right parts and they arrived as we left Oregon.  They've worked beautifully....today, however, one of them blew off twice.

Along the route we saw a Black Bear and two falcons today.....well only Michael and Alex saw the Bear....Michael, myself and Nolan saw Falcons.

The end of the road for us, today, is Triple G Hideaway Campground. Another great stay.....this one even had a restaurant on hand. It was a bit spendy, but we didn't have to un-pack  and re-pack Nimo, it was close, we hadn't had lunch and were ready to eat and sleep.

We have Internet at Triple G's  (love the range extender when using RV Park Internet) and now have a solid offer on "a house," , and a home inspection scheduled for the day before we arrive in the Valley.

Several have told us not to miss Liard River Hot Springs. We're booked into the Provincial Park tomorrow night - hoping the rain lets up. We won't have a full hook-up or Internet - we expect comm black out until Friday afternoon/evening....
