SCHOOL DAZE

We have BEGUN! I thought I needed this week to mail of portfolios and plan…but after 15 years of homeschooling it really doesn’t take as much planning as it used to. I already had TOG Year 4. I know what workbooks they need. I frankly don’t think we NEED workbooks but the younger ones like to play in them and so I buy them. After last night’s ordering spree and library searching, I was fairly confident we could begin.

We did. We got through way more than I expected. We are studying the 20th Century this year.

Here is what the kids are doing (as of now). It’s all falling into place, though I have to really search to follow some of Jamin’s interests.

Zander
~Picture Book Activities: Fun and Games for Preschoolers Based on 50 Favorite Children’s Books

Josiah
Had all credits needed after Sophomore year. He wants to do a few more things this year.
~TOG 4

~Plan to run older boys through Dave Ramsey’s 7 week class on personal finances and then have them to a budget, check book etc…. I may work this up into ½ a personal math credit or we may do it for fun.

*Josiah is working as many hours as possible. He has a financial plan that he is working towards. He wants to have enough saved up for a good car and a year of college by the end of this year. See what listenting to Dave Ramsey will do to you? :::snort:::

Congrats on your first day! Sounds like you've done so well with planning and getting it all organised quickly. This sounds like a day out of: can tell you're a homeschool veteran when...

Sounds like you had a super first day. Way to go! With all the things going on in your life right now, I'm very impressed.

Awesome first day! You have great plans. Cy has great plans, too. I'm trying to get Jordan interested in planning for the future. He has no ambition or desire to do anything. UGH, so frustrating.

I'm glad things are settling into place. I'm also glad you waited to start school :)

LOL I'm also glad I waited to start school. Though it gave Jamin and Jared more time to dream up things they wanted to study. ::snort::

Seriously, I was laughing and thinking - yep you can tell you've been homeschooling a long time when you can pull together a curriculum for 6 children in one sleepless night and a day. Now to implement it.

Sounds like a great school year planned for all.
I am probably going to homeschool James next year for high school. I have been looking at the school you use as well as Laurel Springs. I like aspects of both....would love to hear more about the school when you have a chance.....
I'll have to think about geocaching in Germany.... of course we would need a GPS to begin :)

What a day! I'm glad that you all were able to get so much done. It always seems so chaotic here in the first week. The littles don't like the change of focus and have a tendency to create havoc!LOL

Blessings,

Lisa

Yes...the littles around here are creating havoc...but I expect it during the first week now so I adjust my expectations for what we will get done. THis week I want mainly to do TOG and start language arts. The older 3 are doing everything.

Renee....I'll write up a blog soon about NARHS. I do think it is good for us - I need the accountability and they are very homeschool friendly.
