*Dark Tort* by Diane Mott Davidson
This is a series that I've read previously. It's always fun to find a sequel in an old series.
Goldy Schulz is the owner of "Goldy's Catering - where everything is just right" and the wife of detective Tom Schulz.
Goldy has a way of discovering murders and helping the police solve those same murders.
In this book Goldy stumbles over her young neighbor and goes on to discover that things are not as they appear in Aspen Meadow. As always there are several recipes included in the book and mouth-watering menus to imagine as Goldy goes about solving the murder.
"A series that remains as reliable and satisfying as a favorite casserole recipe." Plain Dealer
"The divine diva of the culinary cozy returns with a crime novel that will have fans of Godly Bear Schulz, caterer and caffeinated sleuth, cheering as they race for the nearest pastry shop." Publishers Weekly

DeEtta,
Is this along the same line of the Fluke books? It seems like I remember saying the Fluke ones were a spin off of another series. Are they so similar that I wouldn't want to read them after just about finishing the Fluke ones? (days away from finishing the last one in that series)

I am glad you recommend these. This is the next "fun" series I am going to start.

I also am enjoying this series, but I like to mix and match, so I'm a few behind in this one. I usually have three or four series going and alternate.

I like this series. I suppose since they are both "culinary" cozies they would be the same...but the characters are totally different. I also am very interested in bed and breakfast stories...and for instance Mary Daheim's "Bed and Breakfast" and Tamar Myers Penn Dutch Inn - are both about bed and breakfasts but really very different in tone and style.

I remember some of these books being ones that I wouldn't want to give a youth to read - can't remember why - but this current one was good. I like husband/wife books that portray a wife finding adventure with her husband. I like the catering world, I like mysteries...it all works for me. LOL

Debbie - I've got this one and the latest in Mary Daheims Bed and Breakfast and Alpine series, Joan Fluke's, Death on Demand.....so I read, catch them up and then alternate when the new ones come out. LOL Somehow, I was so focused on Penn Dutch this year that I missed all the new ones in my old series until now. LOL I really miss the Southern Sister ones....I should find those are read them again for fun.

I like to alternate too. I enjoy this series but I don't know if I've read this one yet, it is her latest? I'll have to check.

I've read the entire series. The author lives up near Evergreen, and it's fun for me to recognize some of the places she describes. I read Dark Tort last month. What's really cool is that she acknowledges the law firm in Denver where I worked for 5 years, and I know one or two of the other attorneys that she thanked also!!!!

I don't think I've tried any recipes from this book yet.

I started reading the Goldy books not to long ago. Has anyone ever tried any of the recipes in the books? such as the savory florentine cheesecake in "prime cut."

Bess,

I've tried the chocolate, cherry cookies in one of the books and they were marvelous.

I had a friend serve the cheesecake and it was also fabulous. I think her recipes are sure bets. LOL

Let us know what you think, if you try it - or post your thoughts on your mom's blog.

I've started collecting these books because I want the recipes.....I suppose I should copy the recipes and get rid of the books. LOL
