Day 20 - Juneau to Anchorage AK - 4 July

Quote of the Day: Josiah asked where the trailer was. Zander commented, “It was making it so all the other cars passed us, so we got rid of it!” ::snort:: It is REALLY parked on the storage lot at the local AFB until we are back from our Alaskan adventure.
We got out of Seattle fine. I forgot that we would be boarding first as we have young kids - that’s a nice perk. The flight to Juneau takes two hours. The city lights of Seattle were gorgeous from the night sky.

We landed in Juneau and began our 8 hour layover. Everyone had passed out at the gates, when we were told we’d have to come down to the lower level to spend the night. They DID bring us some airplane pillows and blankets.

We finally arrived in Anchorage at 10:00 a.m. The children traveled wonderfully. It was Jared and Stacia’s first flights.

We’re too tired after the flight and lay over to do much today. We did go out and see our old home. We drove by and took a picture of your home, Lynn. Will email to you. We ran up to the top of skyline for the view, and then out to Dayton and Tammy’s home (Club Beyond/Youth leaders). Then we bought a few groceries and went in search of our apartment. It’s um…hmmm….the verdict is still out. ::snort:: As an idea of our adventure….we are neighbors with the Hell’s Angel’s Motorcycle Club. ::snort:: We had dinner and then drove to Ship Creek and Kincaid Park. Then we came home and crashed.
(Thanks Summer for the tip about the free wi fi at the BX LOL).

I hope this isn't a dumb question. My mom went to high school in Juneau. They must have a real airport now, or is it still just seaplanes?

I just met an ex-employee of Robert's yesterday whose dad is a Brig. Gen. up at Eielson.

Will you be seeing Dody?

They have a real airport now. BUT they also have lots of small bush planes flying out of the airport.

I hope to meet up with Dody. I'm really trying to arrange meetings with MY friends while Mike and the big boys are off fishing...but they don't tend to give me much notice. They just left for Ship Creek - so I am doing laundry...and wonder of wonders the connection worked TONIGHT - so I'm trying to get some info I need online, email and such.

Sis:

Hell's Angels....you need harold/brian coontz up there to be around those folk. Down here they are the chaplains and ride with this group. Even Kirk has spoken to them.

God is good!

I'm praying that the rest of your vacation is wonderful and that no one else gets sick. I'm sure it's really nice to be back home. Enjoy the good friends and fish.lol

WELCOME BACK! We have missed you guys! Praying that no one else gets sick and your travels are GREAT! Glad the kids are doing well and all. Also you are right at the peak of mostly daylight. On our cruise, it was still daylight at midnight...I was in Kenai, at a fish packing plant for the summer in 88. That was during a time when it was 22 hours of daylight too. But you are used to it, or were. Hope things don't get too crazy with the Hell's Angels there. You HAVE been counting motorcycles along the trip right? lol

Take care. We look forward to updates when you can.

We've also spent a few nights in airports.... not fun! Glad you made it. Is this apartment one you keep year round?

I have so much enjoyed all your entries. Won't make comments on them all, but the pictures are great and thanks for taking the time to post them.

I am so sorry that you all have had your share of sickness. At least you had the camper to call "home" while you were ill.

The kids all look so great and like they are enjoying their adventure.

Praying that the rest of your time is wonderful and safe. Can't wait to hear more.

looks like Stacia is a real trooper for things like sleeping at the airport. Cute pics.
