A Rather Silly Prayer Request - I decided it was too silly to share on SHS - but for those who read my blog - well - they probably care about the silliness of me - or they wouldn't READ the blog. ::snort::

~I loaned out my new digital camera to folks I trusted.
~My camera was inadvertently left at Walmart.
~It’s gone (Yes, they have our name and number, we've checked various depts, we've called DQ as well)

Please pray for ME. My heart needs assistance. I’ve forgiven those involved. They really can’t pay for a new camera. It was an accident. Sure there are lessons there to be learned - and I'm sure they've been learned. I loved my new camera - but I can still use Michael's Nikon - which I did yesterday. Nothing I possess is worth more than people! Never has been, never will be.

Here's the thing: I’m having a tough time forgiving the person who picked up a digital camera at a drinking fountain and took it home instead of returning it to Lost and Found or the Auto desk which was 60 feet away.

I alternately find myself praying the person is so convicted that he/she returns the camera to Walmart, or that the camera is a blessing to them…but I need to forgive this person.

I’m having a hard time doing that. Which is plain silly as God has forgiven me for so much more than the price of a Cannon Power Shot…..I really don’t have a choice – do I? I need to simply forgive. The thing is I need to walk out the forgiveness and not just pray to forgive – so pray for me to settle this in my heart – not simply my mind – today!

{{{Sis}}} (smiling, not shouting) Praying for your heart. Your request isn't silly, it's brave and honest. Kudos for confronting yourself and not running from the truth you face.

No prayer requests are silly...forgiveness is a difficult thing. You've worked half way through...and perhaps God will definitely work on the person who took your camera.

My prayers going up for you.

OUCH..... ugh.. that's a tough one. I'm sure you'll overcome. I "lost" my Zoology book last year by letting people borrow it and I don't remember who the last person was and unfortunately no one in our co-op remembers them being that person either... the only thing I know is it was one of our co-op moms... I lost about $100 worth of books last year as nearly as I can tell and the struggle I'm having now is not wanting to loan things out anymore...

Sis:

Thanks for allowing us to pray along with and for you in this. No request is ever to silly. God wants to see His children at peace.

However we've been there ourselves a few times.

We will pray for you, will pray for the person who has the camera, and will pray for God's provision for you again.

Ugh, I would feel devastated too! I lost my Palm at Sam's Club recently. It was when I was had that moderate case of heat exhaustion, and was feeling really sick. Someone walked off with it.

I've been praying that the person who took it will be blessed and that somehow it will help lead them to Christ. It's a hard thing to pray, especially since ALL my current addresses and phone numbers where in there. *doh*

Most home-insurance (Contents, not Buildings) policies here cover theft or damage to items owned, even when outside the home. Perhaps it's just in Britain, though, as Jodi said hers didn't cover ger camera.

Just a thought.

We can all make the choice to forgive but it doesn't mean those feelings will instantly dissipate after that choice is made. I think you should not be so hard on yourself and give it a little time.

Our policy covers some theft as well, Dorothy. I know we carry more insurance because of our business so I don't know if everyone else has coverage like that or not.. and I'm not sure they would consider it theft if I forgot something.. and I think the other issue would be having it loaned out at the time of the theft. But, it sure might be worth checking into just incase they have some sort of coverage for it. We carry a pretty high deductible and cameras aren't that much so it wouldn't have been covered on our policy, but I have no idea what kind of policy DeEtta carries. Perhaps it's worthing checking into, De?

It seems that this was more negilence (leaving it at a drinking fountain) than theft. ::sigh::

I'm still emotional about the silly thing - but I'll be o.k. I just really liked it after all the research and all....ah well...

It's all going to BURN!

De'Etta - this is certainly not a silly prayer request. I'm so sorry you had this happen. I'm sure the other people are mortified to have left it at Wal-Mart.

Recently my oldest two did some pet sitting. The woman left cash in a thank you note between the screen and front door. Unfortunately we were off camping (only one night but definitely gone for two days).

Someone came up and stole the money and card right off our porch. Ouch! Very sad (especially as she thoroughly over paid them). We all prayed and prayed (for conviction upon the thief, to find the money if it was lost, to have God restore to the children what they had earned, etc). The pet owner waited a few days to see if we would find the money and then re-paid the children. We tried hard to refuse but she insisted. Very kind.

Praying the camera turns up or is replaced. Praying also for your attitude. I completely understand!!

Oh, De'Etta, what a terrible thing for all of you. I also do not understand how people can just take things and not have any remorse about it!

Praying for you, the family that lost it and for the "thief".

What a sad situation.

Oh no! I'll say a prayer for you. You never know just who picked it up, but you can bet they need prayer too. God WILL use this to work for good, in some way.
