School -

Woohoo! We got it ALL done....

I began talking about cows, calves, squares, the number 1 and the letter A with Zander. He decided today that he'd like to learn to write Alex and not Zander or Alexander. ::snort::

We did our TOG, our writing, our independent work....math....began studying butterflies....and we made Egyptian Bread and Hummus....which our book tells us are authentic. I'm not sure what the spices should be like in this Hummus - I used the Moosewood recipe. Nolan tried it and said it "takes your breath away". I'm not sure that is good.

As for the bread; I'm guessing we're making pita bread.
Arielle & Nolan enjoyed playing/working with the dough!
Trays ready to sit covered overnight, we'll make it in the morning. Stacia is our taste tester....and she is not wearing clothes because it works better that way when we are painting or cooking. ::snort::

It's nice to have a choice of names!

We have a friend named Alexander who calls himself Xan (pronounced Zan.) And I have an uncle who has always been called Sandy. That's quite a common abbreviation for Alexander in Scotland. {g}

More to pick from!

LOL! We just studied Africa and made some of the dishes. I can't say that we liked them...

And, Nathan just learned to write his name (you saw that on our blog)...because he thinks he needs to be able to write it on his Kindergarten papers.

Oh hey Xan would be even easier than Zander. LOL

Sis:

School looks like fun when one looks into Arielle/Nolan's eyes.

Another good thing about homeschool is you can allow a child to learn to write a shortened version of their name.

We tried that with Nathaniel and the teachers would not allow it in the public school or even at Faith Academy in Manila.

I agree with Zander; go with the shortest option!

We went to a Greek festival last week and are having Chicken Souvlaki tonight as a result--with pita bread and couscous. Okay, so they might not all be authentic, but at least they are somewhat Mediterranean, lol.

I bought too much stuff and didn't plan, so we're having Tortellini Salad (with feta cheese) and hummus and pita bread another night.
