Slingin Stacia

Many of the ladies at the park “sling their babies”. Becky has three slings and gave me one. I was thrilled and started the day trying to sling Stacia.

It worked great at the park with Adrienne and Becky to pull, prod and shape….but this doesn’t seem quite right. Ah well, I’ll have Mike try it this evening and if we can’t figure it out there are always park days to learn. {g} I think this would be really helpful for me. My wrists have bad days where they hurt and where they give out. I’m just not sure I’ll ever be able to get it on alone. I even stood in front of the mirror to do this and it worked well for about 2 minutes. Then THIS…. If you know how to wear one of these and can figure out what I did wrong - please comment.

BTW, don’t I look like one of those Hindu Goddesses with all the arms and legs sticking out everywhere?????

PS the hair is like that because I’m heading to get it cut and such in an hour and she said not to wash it. Honest! {vbg}

HI De'Etta, by the time my babies were that size, they only laid in the sling of they were nursing or nursed to sleep.

You can sit her indian style and face forward, she'd be more in front.

Or you can put her on your hip and secure her there with the sling.

This website for Over The Shoulder Baby HOlder has pictures showing how to position baby for different holds. http://www.russettweb.com/nursing.html

HTH~I LOVED my sling.

I did the hip carry at this age, too--child sitting up, straddling my side with her legs. I usually had one arm around the child, at least loosely, because they can flop back unexpectedly--but I wasn't bearing weight on my arms, mostly my hip.

Love the Hindu goddess comment--cracked me right up!

Hey De'Etta,
I have a slng type thing that might help you out. It's a hip riding thing. Their website on it is
http://hiphammock.com
That takes you to a playtex website though and I don't think this is a playtex one but it looks like the same sort of design. Maybe they bought this company out. Anyways, it's a cute teddybear tapestry fabric on the outside black fleece on the inside.

Let me know if you want it and I'll send it to you for free.

Oh De'Etta,
I found a link to the original one at the Playtex site. They must've bought her domain...

Let me know!

Jen,

Did you like the hip hammock? Did it feel more secure? Do you remember how big of a baby can use it? It sure does look easier to figure out. {G}

OK now I see that big toddlers can ride in this thing. {G} I'll find your email address and email you off list about this.

I think I'd like to give it a try if you don't need it.
