Parenting/Discipline in Proverbs - Chapter 5

~Great admoitions on purity in this chapter

~Once again Proverbs speaks of the instruction a parent is assumed to provide for a child/youth

~I clearly see a picture of a relationship developing here between parent and child...one of mutual honor, respect, and deep care

5:23 "He will die for lack of instruction, and in the greatness of his folly he will go astray."

~As a parent there is nothing more important than instructing/teaching/discipling the children that God has entrusted to my care.

~May I never hear that my child has gone astray for "lack of instruction".

~My instruction is designed to lead my children to a whole hearted relationship with their Creator.

Father, help me to stay engaged with my children in such a way that they will never go astray for lack of instruction. Help my instruction to be gracious and enhancing of the gifts and strengths that you have instilled in each of my children. Help me to intimately know and understand my children so that I can be the best possible parent to them.
