Water Update...

My Mom is so funny. She sent this photo my way this a.m. It is APPROPRIATE for our last few days. ::snort::We still have water - they are still working on the lines so we are prepared to loose it again. We have to boil all tap water - and believe me you can tell THAT without a public health notice at my house! Josiah filled several old detergent buckets with water and my tub is full. Since they are still working on this section of town.... and will be for 3 - 5 days....who knows if it will go out again. I'm betting the city council is going to decide to pay for upgrades afterall. It turns out that the soil was all that was holding the pipes together. When they dug to repair leaks, moved the dirt and whammo!!

Josiah isn't working again today. Chick Fil A had water and then didn't...they are near us. This is 15 hours off work - first time he's had 3 days off in a row in months and months.

Does anyone know if a reverse osmosis, under the sink unit, would be fine for drinking even if the water going into it is supposed to be boiled? Does that question make sense? I'm wondering if we can drink the water from our filter....

I'm wondering if I'll be like my grams....93 years young and doing things that make my family go "hmmm". I wonder if I'll always keep a tub full of water from here on out "just in case" and if my grandkids will say "Poor grams, she was marked for life by growing up without plumbing as a missionary kid." Just thoughts I'm having....

Sounds like quite a big problem. Glad to hear you have water for flushing even if it's not good enough for drinking/cooking. If this turns out to be major, like this is gonna take a year to repair properly...then you may want to get one of those water dispensers. We got one last time we had flooding/water issues. It has been a good thing. Now we don't have to worry if things freeze or flooding or any of that. When all is well we only use it for drinking, anything else we use tap water for so it's only about $2.50 a week to buy the water for the dispenser. I still keep tap water set aside too in case of power outage (well water uses electric pump) or whatever.

Love your mom's picture.

Glad your water is back, but what a drag to be wondering if it will just be taken away again.

When we have storms with any type of wind, I fill the tub with water (for the toilets) and one or two gallon jugs (for drinking). We lose our power frequently, but usually only for short periods.

I can't answer your questions, but your comments about your grandma made me smile... speaking of grandmas... have you ever heard of this? My 94 year old grandma fell and hit her head yesterday. Today she got up and said she felt as if she's been in a cocoon and just came out. She's asking about her checking account, wants to go shopping, and even knows who the President is.... she hasn't asked about her checkbook in over 5 years... shakes her head when you even mention President... and... well... we're all quite surprised, glad but worried at the same time

Wow - that's a bit strange isn't it, Cindy? What does her doctor have to say? That is something like you hear about in a movie or something.

Glad you are at least getting some H2o. Goodness what a mess it all sounds like. I think your childrens G'Ma/G'Pa are already starting (in the minds of some) to do strange things. :):):) NOT US!!

Dad seems to be in more pain at home. Of course his exercises are all stretch to the point of hurt and then hold it........ He can't yet move his leg/foot off the bed when lying down more than maybe 2 inches.

Sounds like several of you are also use the interesting going's on of a mission field or at least another country.... Bath tubs full of water are pretty common in our past lives.

Awesome about the G'Ma who is rembering and more aware just now. Remember that DeEtta as a solution when I get forgetful etc.

RO is good. The RO membrane will filter out all undissolved particulates. Bacteria will be filtered out. That is what my RO specialist said.

Love you
