ANOTHER ONE BITES THE DUST!

It looks like another computer has bitten the dust. That leaves one in four in working condition. Of course, it's the one I've done all my work on since the other one crashed...and of course I've not backed up any pictures since Mike left 5 months ago. ARGH.

It won't come on at ALL. It simply shows a black screen with a flashing cursor at top....and the tower makes a clicking sound.....

I really, really don't want to call The Geek Squad.....

Hold onto hope Sis!
All may not be lost.
PTL my gh was able to locate the info on the "lost" hd and will be able to salvage photos and all transferring them to a new hd.
I trust your dh can do the same for you!
The problem may be w/Windows, not your hd.

Ooo, just reread...a previous cc (we seem to avg. 1 every 18 months) left the tower clicking and it was the hd. Still, don''t lose hope...Just because the hd isn't functioning properly, doesn't mean the data w/in is lost.

the clicking sound means the harddrive has crashed :( We had that happen just about a month ago.... but we still had two weeks left on our warranty so Dell send us a new one....

Oh GOOD GRIEF!!! This is one of our NEW computers! Why in the world would the hard drive crash????

Of course Steve, my friend's dh who works on computers for the military, says that hard drives are not MEANT to last as long as ours have - that they crash every 1 - 2 years or something...but STILL.....

I'm SO thankful that we've never had one crash yet! I got worried about something like that happening a couple of years ago when I went digital with all my photos so I bought one of those $200 external harddrives and I have it set to back up every night. When your dh gets home you might look into one of those. It sure was worth the $$ for the peace of mind it gives me knowing that I won't lose a thing should something happen to my hard drive.

Sis: For sure we will be praying you don't lose your fotos. Ask this Steve guy how to back it all up while it is all still working.

:) What do I know about this anyway? :)::(:( So far we have been fortunate in that people who really know can always find the stuff for us.

Dad slept all day because he could not sleep at all last night so took a sleeping pill around 4am this morning. At least I knew he was sleeping while I was at school. :):)
