Thursday???? Shew....Thank God Friday is Coming!

This has been another very hectic week - for us as well as for Mike. We're all really looking forward to his day off tomorrow. He works until 9:30 every Thursday night. I envisioned reading tonight, but needed to read SHS mail, email, paperwork, write a newsletter...... I'll update the blog and then maybe read a book yet! Maybe.

I hit 50 Curve workouts today. My goal is 100 by the end of October...but for sure by the end of the year. The trainer talked to me about my workouts. I've been watching and seen that some ladies really work it - and I figured out what they were doing differenly than I. I go in 5 - 6 times a week....so today they said if I want to keep doing the more intense workouts I need to do those only 3 times a week...and then the other pace the other days. OK. LOL My hip is still giving me trouble (evidenced by the tumble into the cactus and the stiff a.m.'s) but I find that working through the pain in the a.m. DOES help me throughout the day.

Kristine - here's my first thing in the a.m. shot...any hints of makeup are because I forget to wash it off the night before. ::snort:: Can you believe I go to Curves like this every a.m.? ::snort::
Here I am with Heather - my hair stylist......she called to ask if it was about time for me to come see her. ::snort:: I couldn't remember if I'd made an appointment to see her when we got back. She has been on my list for two weeks to call...I'm glad she called and then came in early today so that Arielle and I could get our hair done before SHE went on vacation next week. Yes, she's young, but her prices are good and her work is GREAT. And SHOOT I simply like talking to a 19 year old girl from time to time.
Arielle wanted to go short again. She watched me having my eyebrows waxed and decided that is one beauty treatment that doesn't need rushing. ::snort::
I called around to get the final scoop on how a person gets a driver's license in this state. Jamin thought that he'd studied the manual and could just go in and take a permit test. That's how it works in AK. Not here. I was told that you HAD to go to a driving academy and after the 3rd class you could take the permit test. The class is $340. Finally, Heather (not Heather above) told me that there is a Parent Taught Driver's Ed that the state sells for $20. After the first module - they can test for their permit. It's the same stuff that the Driving Academy uses....so.....$60 for the material, permit, and license or $340? I think we'll do Parent Taught.
I also made a couple of my calls....I really, really, really try hard to touch base by phone but the phone doesn't work well with this active house.
In fact, today, when I went to put the baby down for a nap all "whatever" broke loose in the living room. I haven't a clue what was going on - or didn't at that time because I was determined to get her down for a nap. The mailman and two produce baskets were dropped off during that time - God only knows what they heard! It sounded like someone was being murdered from where I sat.
I got my vacuum back! Yippee! I came home and thoroughly dusted and vacummed. What a good feeling. They told me that I had no choice on the high repair bills because "Kirby has you" and I told them that Kirby doesn't have me for much longer. This is getting ridiculous.
Late afternoon found me ironing a uniform that looked suspiciously like an Air Force uniform. I SWORE I would not ever do that again about 12 years ago....when Mike didn't like the way I ironed. Today went no better. ::snort:: BUT eventually we did manage to get Jared into his CAP uniform and out the door for his meeting.

I will admit that as he walked away from the van I realized I'm not sure I want to be a military spouse and a military mom - he may have to rethink his life's ambitions. ::snort::

Congratulations on making the halfway mark for your Curves goal. :)

It never seems to fail that all whatever breaks loose whenver I'm not in the room. Some times I think I should just wear a referee uniform. ;)

I hope Friday is a relaxing day for everyone in your family.

Great accomplishment with your curves workout? Do you like it? Does it work? I'm still hashing around whether to try it or not. It is not around the corner for me, so I need to really think it through.

I think your morning picture looks great! :-)

I love going to get my hair done, but never seem to make it. I would love to find an independent hairdresser instead of going to the salon.

Jared looks so handsome in his uniform. I'm sure it is tough thinking about being a military spouse and mom.

I have still yet to take a "morning" picture . . . I love going to the salon but only go 4 times a year. . my hair designer has raised his prices so much . . it's almost ridiculous!

Great job on all your workouts. Lisa and I have a goal of 4 times a week but we haven't been able to get back into our routine the last few weeks. Hopefully that will change next week.

What a handsome young man he isin his uniform.
I have to tell you that in 16 years of active duty Army, I have never ironed dh's uniform. I made that clear when he went active duty instead of slaving for a 6 figure salary with a big law firm. :) I have a great aversion to ironing and rarely purchase anything for myself that needs ironing.

Bess (or Debbie?),

I love Curves. It IS something that Bess and Debbie could do together...if Bri was around to watch the children. Hmmm.

It is working well for me. It works on several fronts. It builds muscle...which speeds your metabolism...which helps you maintain weight loss and even lose...it's aerobic....which helps you lose fat and conditions your heart....and it is in a non-intimidating setting....which makes it social...for a bit of time I was thinking I wasn't getting a tough enough workout - but I realized that many do a "social" work out.....then I started going at different times and seeing some "serious" workouts and now I know how to adjust mine. LOL

::snort:: Renee....Mike and I have a deal that HE takes care of the uniform. I can spend HOURS trying to make it perfect - and it isn't up to his standards....Jared's is due to visit the drycleaners. LOL

That's what I look like going to Curves, too. Why shower and get yourself together before going to sweat??

So....is there an after picture of your new haircuts??

DeEtta @ Courageous Joy said...

Kelly - mine really is the same...but Arielle's is different - I'll post some photos today.

I share your philosophy on dolling up to go work out.

Sorry about the Kirby.. ugh... do you take it to a Kirby dealer for repairs? I've only had to take ours in 2x in the last 8-10 years taht I recall... once because one of our ds's was "fixing" it and lost the wheel (LOL) and once when the pedal thing that engages the transmission broke off.... Both of those parts were inexpensive, imo, and they didn't even charge me labor for the wheel replacement. Oh.. forgot to say that I don't take it to a Kirby dealer for repair. I take it to a general vacuum repair place.

De'Etta, your picture looks GREAT. Ever since I blurred that one little picture of myself, I've been trying to post more shots of me. It may be an attempt to "prove" that I'm not being too picky about how I look, lol. What a sweetheart your stylist is to call you!

Ouch, I've had waxing done but imagine that eyebrows would HURT!

My kids get VERY vocal when playing video games in the evening. Our windows are open, and I know some neighbors must wonder WHAT in the world is going on.

Oh, I think I would have teared up a bit if Jared were my son looking so grown up like that!

Cindy - I take it to the local all around vac man...but he has to use Kirby parts. We've had it 14 years and we've had to take it in at least 7 times....they SAY to get it serviced yearly (29.99)....I don't but something has gone out every other year so I get it serviced that often. We figure we've spent at least $700 on repairs...the hose that connects the bag thing once, the clutch, cord this time......things like that....oh new beater bar and something there broke...one of those little plastic square parts.... I like the vacume when it works but about once a year or every other year when I have to pay $100 for repairs....I'm not happy. The stupid cord was over $30 to buy and NO other cord would work. LOL

DeEtta @ Courageous Joy said...

Ah Kristine - thanks for the encouragment re noise from children - is THIS why you are moving to the country? :;snort::

eyebrows honestly don't hurt too bad. LOL

this IS bess this time...lol

I have to agree with De'Etta on the waxing. Eyebrows kind of sting a little but after the first time you kind of know what to expect and the sting lessens.

DeEtta @ Courageous Joy said...

Thanks Bess - I agree. The secret is that KRISTA braved it before I did and then I decided it wasn't too bad afterall...beats plucking....
