Boys' Room

Welcome to the Boys' Room. Jared came to us and asked about rooming with the younger boys during this assignment. He felt he'd benefitted, as an 11 yo, from rooming with his high school brothers and wanted to help us mentor the younger boys. What a blessing! This allowed us to have a room set aside for school, computers and books.....and gives us peace knowing that our older ones are focused on partnering with us in the training of the younger ones.

I think sharing a room with younger brothers or sisters is as much a blessing to the big kids as the little ones. I remember especially the year I was 14 and shared a queen-sized bed with my 3 year old sister. She used to snuggle up by me at night and tell long, involved stories about people in a castle. The funniest part was that if she woke up during the night she would pick up right where she left off and continue with the story!

LOL Paula...Arielle and I had a good laugh about you and your sister. We're finding its uncommon for youth to share rooms with younger siblings these days...but we've seen good results in our family from the pracice.

Our 24 and 22 year old daughters shared a room with Arielle when they were home....and the relationship they developed continues to be strong.

I think room sharing in general has gone out of fashion as family sizes decrease and home sizes increase...I've heard people with two children in a 3 bedroom house say they can't have another child because they would need a bigger house! I really value every chance I had to connect with my younger siblings when I lived at home--once I left for colleges the opportunities were so limited, and I have had to watch the little ones grow up mostly from a distance--the but the feelings of closeness from when they were little remain. I think I enjoy reading about your family because in so many ways it reminds me of my own.

Waya to go Jared. You learned good from your 4 older siblings.

Sis: love the tours and love the occupants even more. :)
