Dad G's Home-going Celebration

What can one say? It was a celebration. It was joy. It was pain. It was good.

The service began with folks sharing memories of Dad G. It was inspiring to hear how his life impacted so many...ministries he started 30 years ago still carry on. Good stuff!

I was proud of Michael. I can't think of anything harder than conducting a loved ones funeral...but he's done it twice....Grannie Annie and Dad G today.

Michael, Mom G and his sisters - Mary and Rebecca

Good grief....this a.m. Michael's sister, Rebecca, heard that her home had been broken into. She had to leave soon after the funeral to go take care of business in OR. We're heading to CO on Thursday. Mom and Dad headed home to OR too. The rest of us went to dinner and then took Mom G home. It seemed fitting that Dad G's homecoming celebration day should end with an adventure back at home.....
WHAT are they looking at?

The visiting was sweet. The memories are precious. The day feels surreal. It's going to be hard to drive off tomorrow....but we're taking Mom G with us up to Eugene so she can fly to CO....that will make it more of an adventure and less of a farewell.

Choosing Joy!

It was a beautiful day weather wise. EVEN more was the beauty of hearing folks share about Earl. The church folks were so nice. Mike did a great job. Loved the songs sung. Mary was a great example of one with wonderful hope of heaven and etc........ We were glad we got down there and back home..... Was blessed of what Jared had to say and PTL for his sensitive heart to experience as he did from the Lord etc. we love you all so much! love/prayers - Dad/Mom & G'Pa-G'Ma T

De'Etta,
It truly does sound like a day of celebration of his life. Sending prayers for comfort and peace to all of you. What a difficult time.

And wow! about the bear in the tree! :)

It sounds like a lovely service and truly a celebration. My mom, dad, and father-in-law all lost their fathers this past year, and Dan and I lost our remaining grandfathers--each funeral was a time of precious remembrance and tender feelings.
Sending up prayers for comfort and peace and for your family to enjoy the time you have together this summer.
