Huh???? - Culture Shock....

Things that make me go "Huh?" here in America. Look how close these carts are to the cart corrals? Two different days....

It would be too great of an inconvenience to walk 20 feet so your cart doesn't damage another's car? This sort of  what - self-centeredness? Lazieness? Lack of thought? is stunning after living in Asia for four years.

Sometimes, when I can't get the spot beside the corral, I've had to do this. I can't leave the babies in the car alone to return it and I can't carry them both to the corral and back to return it. :)

Lisa - while I totally see your problem - this is NOT possibly the reason for all of them - the lot was full of carts rolling around. I think it would be a great idea of Moms to mention this to stores as a problem....they could have special parking spots by the cart corrals or something. Valid point.

I was more amazed at the SIZE of carts whenI returned. The stores overwhelmed me with choices and lights. I was glad to have a neighborhood store for the first few years- that was older/warmer/darker/ modified shelves and people who cared that I was there.

Yesterday at Winn Dixie, I saw a woman STRUGGLING to put her cart up on a grassy median by her car. I thought it would have been so much easier to walk it to the front of the store or to a nearby corral than what she went through!

While there are exceptions like Lisa (and I left my babies alone to walk to a cart corral, keeping my eye on the car at all times, leaving it running and locked with an extra key in my hand), the majority of people are just too lazy (selfish?) to take the extra 30 seconds to walk the cart to the corral. I have offered to take carts from moms who have their hands full with kids, and from older people as well. They are always appreciative of the gesture.
