June 12, 2011: I'm a 47 yo mother of 9. I'm not going to look like a 20 year old. However, I have YOUNG kids and plan to be around awhile. I need to be healthy. I believe God has a purpose for my life and I want to be as fit as I can, for as long as I can, to be as useful as I can for His kingdom.
The SAD (Standard American Diet) isn't going to produce the results I need. In the past I charted a course following the advice of Deb (Dietitian) and a trainer from Goodfellow AFB. I was also influenced by the "Traditional Diet" and Dr. Rex Russell. I summarize Deb, the dietitian here and the trainer on exercise here. I still believe this could be a health lifestyle for most people. I lost 40 lbs....then had a miscarriage, a "thyroid storm," and extended pcs....gained it all back.....so I'm starting again....as of June 12, 2010.
Update - October 2012: Since writing the above, I've realized I need to deal with some root issues (you can read about that in Why Vegan). Even on the healthy regime listed above, and doubling cholesterol meds, my cholesterol continued to rise, migraines were frequent, my blood pressure was rising and I hadn't lost weight. God impressed on me that Jesus is the WAY for every situation in my life and I was to "Follow Him to Freedom." This led to a 6 week Daniel Fast....the results were amazing (again you can read Why Vegan for more details) and the doctor told me to stay with this plan. He thinks I can be off meds, except thyroid. I'm learning many things - some of which I'm blogging. I'll try to remember to link below or label with healthy living.
