PAPERWORK!!!

I'm drowning in paperwork!

We DID manage school today.

I finished details on the trailer purchase.

I filled out Josiah's FAFSA...only to discover NOW that some of the info is wrong but I'm trusting all of you who say they'll give me a chance to amend it before hauling one of us off to prison!

I had to redo our taxes....funny thing...Turbo Tax agrees with me that we don't get the child credit...but then THEY give it back as an "additional" child tax credit. I would think the government could streamline this whole thing. This is so silly. I really like the idea of a set percentage for taxes...I can't imagine how nice it would be if we didn't have all these silly forms, exemptions etc. Just pay the percentage on your gross income and be done with it.....anyway - $1,000 per child under 17 is a chunk of change in our home....though I still don't get WHY they say "you don't qualify", and then turn around and give it back to you AFTER you fill out ANOTHER worksheet. I also am not sure why they think a 17 year old costs less to raise than an infant......I can guarantee my 17 yo costs more to feed than my 7 year old. ::snort:: I suppose it's one of those mysteries of the universe.

I fielded phone calls from the RV dealer. Mike let me know that I got the trailer at 8K below blue book - not bad. I didn't even play hard ball...I DID shamelessly set out to charm them even though they called me "little lady". I simply told them that my dh was deployed, pining away dreaming of camping in TX, and I'd like to let him know I had his dream trailer purchased. Then I asked for the bottom line price because I wasn't interested in bargaining. The dealership has been calling all day offering to throw in more free things they think I need. Maybe we'll have to try this next time we need to buy a vehicle. They are quite surprised that I told them I'd bring a check in and didn't want to mess with their financing.

I also dealt with calls and such for produce co-op.

Bible study tonight.....had fun visiting afterward but had NO idea what time it was. The clock in our room was missing. I'll need to take my own clock next time. I obviously can't tell when I've done an hour's worth of talking. ::snort::

I feel your pain... I'm also drowning in paperwork.... piles for the trip, piles for all the employee tax papers to file by today, quarterly reports, scholarships, bills, time sheets, ugh... I three piles that well over 2' each... sigh... and it pretty much all has to be done by midnight tonight... we'll see how much I finish... oh and the SCUBA manual and piles of tests (LOL)... that doesn't have to be done until tomorrow (LOL)...

This is a GREAT time of the year to buy an RV, so I'm told.... I suppose unless you're in AZ where all the snowbirds go. I looked up the figure the other day and may have even mentioned it, but now I can't remember for sure what it was... a significant savings over buy in the spring/summer, though. We always like to make them wait.... especially when they are really wanting to make a sale like this time of the year. The other thing is that around here the dealership holds out less of the commission for the sales person this time of the year so the consumer really do have more bargaining power now.

I'll be anxious to see pictures when you get it! We already have our new one, but I haven't even had time to go out and look at it since it's been home. My mom, otoh, has the heat on in hers and spends time out there everyday... I barely have time to eat and sleep everyday (LOL)!.... can't wait for the end of vb and bb season when I can return to a more manageable lifestyle... that or I wish the weather would turn cold and snowy so Tim could stay home and help like he normally does this time of the year!

Congrats on your new camper! I can't wait to see a picture of it. I saw the Dugger's tv-special the other day. They showed the family on a road trip in a motor home. It was amazing that 16 people could sleep in it and that they stayed so organized! We grew up camping but camping that way . . . in a motorhome. I have such wonderful memories of traveling around in it with my family. My sister just purchased a camper that they pull and she loves it even better than the motor home we use to have. Where do you think you will go on your first camping trip?
Also, when you are finished with the paper fairy . .. please send her this way . . .I have two file cabinets that need organized and revamped :-)

Sounds good! Hopefully you can get everything straightened out with your taxes. Cute fairy graphic though!

Sis: Anxious to see your purchase. Congrats. What fun you will all have!

TAXES, agree with you on a flat tax. Bugs us that we have to pay so much while the real rick folks don't have to percentage wise.

School starts again today so it will be back to work for me.

Ugh that is a huge pile of paperwork. Maybe the fairy on the graphic will come to life and help diminish it!

Congratulations on the RV!

Ugh, paperwork...the bane of my life. I am not good at it and I do not like it, but it is a fact of life these days. Hope you can tackle it all soon.

Can't wait to see the new camper. I know I've said it before, but you are going to love it! :-)

My paper fair is our tax guy. He used to be a neighbor of ours and owns a tax preperation business. We started using him when I opened my home day care and we had to deal with trust taxes. It was way easier than trying to figure it out ourselves. The year I closed the business, we tried doing it ourselves and finally decided to let HIM figure out all the various tax laws! LOL. We don't even blink at having him do it now. (Well, his business, his business is big enough now we don't actually get him working on our papers!)

De'Etta--be sure to catch the Blog Question e-mail on the SHS loop.

You know, when you are no longer drowning in paperwork.

I'm curious to hear all of your responses to the blog questions. You might be the queen of blogging on our loop. Ha!

Taxes...ick. I've been reading about the AMT and how it wasn't designed to keep pace w/inflation, so, more middle income families will now get caught w/AMT...We're the "new rich."

Excited about the camper!

Like how the paperwork fairy took the phone away too! The phone is one of my least favorite inventions. It makes no sense to me to pay to have my privacy invaded!

Nyisutter has my permission to send snow to queen bee.....

No, Emily, I cannot send any of my cleaning fairies your way. Your home is much more organized than my mine and they would never wish to return home. LOL

Duggers - the show I saw showed them with a motor home - but they pulled a pop up AND drove a van too. ::snort::

Mom - actually the statistics show that those in the top categories do pay a higher precentage of their incomes in taxes...it hurts no matter how you look at it, I suppose. LOL

LOL.... I won't comment on the whole tax thing.... other than to say if you're self employed you pay MORE THAN YOUR FAIR SHARE..... by the time you get socked for a tax just because you're self employed on top of paying both parts of SS/MCR, etc.

I suppose the grass is always greener.....
