WEATHER & SMALL BASES

It's warmed up and raining....but we have a 90% chance of freezing rain tonight and tomorrow. Sunday is supposed to be nice. Snow again on Monday. Who would have guessed?

I received a phone call from the clinic about my labs. This is ALWAYS bad news because they don't call if things are o.k. They didn't say a word about the GTT so I'm assuming I don't have diabetes for another year. They said my thyroid is 2.3 which is mid-range; so I'm keeping my dose for another year. I need to read up more on the numbers and figure this out.

Then they said my cholesterol is high. Shoot! I talked to them about my high good cholesterol but even taking that into account I'm still 60 points above maximum. This goes up and down with my thyroid. However, I have a history of heart problems in the family and so...they referred me to the "Health and Wellness Center". The clinic said to expect a call. Less than 30 minutes later I got a call. He told me that they do the heart classes once a month and when it was. I can't make it. He then said that they'll do a one on one meeting with me and the dietitian on Monday. This is good as I know last time I was on the "the program" they advocated lots of fake food as the solution - and I won't do that this time. I explained, ::snort:: "I don't plan on spending real money on fake food. "When I asked where their building was he said, "Ma'am the same parking lot your husband uses. How's he doing over there?" Small bases are a hoot! I can't get away with anything around here. I sometimes wonder if Mike told the clinic to make sure I did what I was told while he was gone.....

Sis, I'm chuckling at your last sentence, "I sometimes wonder if..."
I do the same thing. Came home w/children from school last week and they said, "There's music on in the garage." I checked all doors were locked before I left and heard no music...Husband hadn't been home...unlocked the garage and sure enough the CD w/Randy Travis' voice was playing, "Open the eyes of my heart, Lord." My first thought was, "I wonder if my husband some how set this up for me to find?" When questioned my startled gh said, "No! Maybe God is trying to tell us something!" {G}

My thyroid meds have gone up and down for a few years. Just when I think, ah, I'm losing those few pounds, my test comes back that my levels are too low. Oh well! It's always nice while it lasts . . .

Check into iodine and thyroid. I haven't in awhile, but the connection was of great interest. :)

I hope you can get your blood pressure down without fake foods. How is that supposed to work, anyway?

Dorothy....the thought last time I was on the program is that Americans won't give up the food they love so instead of giving up cookies for say an juicy nectarine they tell you to eat a low fat cookie (same with cheese, mayo, etc). Which most think is fine...but since I now don't eat processed, fake food....well a big percentage of those "low fat" foods are loaded with synthetic ingredients. The exception being some dairy made with skim milk - but I don't do skim milk these days because it's processed with BHT/Vit A Palmitate....so now I know enough to know that I will not be eating the fake food....and that I'm already eating mostly raw fruits and veggies, all whole grains etc....Since I don't eat the SAD (Standard American Diet) I do not think switching to low fat options is really going to be any help whatsoever this time. LOL I knew that was how their heart class goes and so didn't want to attend. They are being great and letting me meet one on one with a dietician which hopefully will allow me to ask specific questions and voice opinions...such as I'd rather have 1 tsp of butter a day than 2 T of fake stuff....Last time their BIG push was "don't eat butter".....but I don't eat it often...I've learned to do bread without and such. Toast without butter - what a sad world. ::snort:: Toast is one area where I still NEED butter so I eat toast MAYBE once a week.

This really is probably thyroid and heridtiy because I don't eat eggs/cheese etc all the time, I don't drink milk, I don't put butter on bread, I don't eat lots of red meat.....we aren't eating out...I'm not frying....in other words I'm doing what they say to do....the one area that I think I'm "off" is that I do use flax oil, coconut oil etc....and so I could cut down on those...but I'm not sure they raise LDL. We'll see. I do NOT want to go on meds....so I'll be very, very careful....
