Family Night

As we discussed what movie we may want to watch for family night last night, I repeatedly mentioned that I wanted a movie that would make me LAUGH...until my sides hurt...until I cried....

The discussion continued on and on and we never found a movie that would fit the bill.....but then THIS happened...Mike and I have had an agreement for years and years. We do NOT play "Tickle Mommy" at our house. I am TERRIBLY ticklish. I can't stand being tickled. We've kept this secret from the young ones. The older ones used to defend me against Mike in years gone by..... and Mike invented "Tickle Little Kids" - and I was safe....

UNTIL HE TURNED ON ME!

Did I mention that I can't STAND being tickled. He figured it would be a good way to make me laugh....and those little ones? They didn't defend me....until I finally managed to gasp out "the OLDER ONES always helped me!" Then the real fun began.

And THEN it became "Tickle Little Kids"

When I said, "WHY"? I was told, "You WANTED to laugh!"

Later on Mike brought me these!

The camera had gone down $75 - 80 in price....It was $175.00 at Sam's Club...and I really like this little camera. Of course, it doesn't hold a candle to the Nikon Dwhatevernumber it is - 70 or 90....but I love the ease of slipping it in my pocket.

Jamin made us homemade Chicago Style Pizza....Josiah bought Meet the Robinsons and surprised us.

We are talking about Sabbath celebrations and how and WHEN we could fit this in.....some of us think that pizza isn't a traditional Sabbath meal.....but there is not ONE time in the week when all of us are home from Sunset to Sunset. We spent some time before the ticklefest discussing what we may do with this.

DH bought me that very same camera for my birthday this year! I love it for a pocket sized camera. It isn't quite as good as my Rebel XT, but it's not as heavy/bulky either. *smile*

No fair that you got a sneak tickle attack/gang up!

The camera and flowers make up for it though! Glad you've got a pocket camera again.

Aaahhh, roses, how sweet!

As you know we have our Shabbat meal on Saturday evening. We aren't all home for 24 hours though, just for the evening of the meal. Church responsibilities mean we are often 'working' on Sunday mornings.

But just getting together for a special meal, with prayers and candles and wine etc, dedicating that time to God, setting it aside, making it holy, has a deep significance on the rest of our week.

If we're away from home a lot or have engagements on a Saturday evening we really can't avoid, we all miss it. I read that Jews 'welcome Shabbat as a bride' as though it's a person, something we are longing for, and this is what it has become for us. Never a burden, always a joy. And a joy we can share with others too!

If this is something you want to do, I'm sure you'll find a way of individualising it so it works for you.

Blessings!

Dorothy - I plan to go search your blog for your Sabbath posts.

I want a whole day of REST - but maybe we'll have to settle for Friday night. LOL

LOL I think the roses and camera had very little to do with the tickling....and one of the older boys commented that he'd forgotten chocolate - wa la - a miniature Hershey showed up at my plate. LOL

Oh, De'Etta, I am so ticklish and it is a forbidden thing to tickle the momma in this house.

Love the camera and roses! What a wonderful surprise.

The kids watched Meet the Robinsons Friday night with Gran while we were double dating! They talked Greg into watching it Saturday morning until Mom put a damper on the fun by saying we had an hour before we needed to leave for church, and why was Dad sitting around watching a movie. He finished it Sunday before we had to rush out of the house for small group, and pronounced, "That is probably the best movie I've ever seen!" Are you kidding me? I've yet to see it!

Linda - I've still watched it all the way through - but it does seem like a cute movie.

Debbie - it was a great surprise and it's also forbidden in this house. Which is why the littles were stunned!
