Easter Prep

We will be far too busy tomorrow a.m. to make Resurrection Rolls (click for recipe). We made them this afternoon. I wasn’t sure how they’d taste with Rapadura instead of sugar and such, but they are good. We saved enough for each to have one tomorrow a.m.

While they baked, we read *The Very First Easter* by Paul L. Maier. This is a wonderful book. The story line is accurate. The illustrations are well done. I had two small "beefs": 1. Jesus didn’t look very Middle Eastern and 2. The author holds a sacramental view of the Lord’s Supper, whereas we tend toward more of a memorial view. As I said, small beefs. I recommend finding a copy of this one for your “Lent Stash”. The book is published by Concordia Publishing House.

De'Etta, we made Resurrection Rolls today too. :) We also own The Easter Story. I have the same beef in books--if Jesus doesn't look middle eastern and also when Mary is portrayed as having blonde hair and blue eyes.

ACKKK!!! I meant to do the Resurrection Rolls this evening and completely forgot!! Guess we will do them in the morning. Better set the alarm as we have cooking to do for our luncheon tomorrow. (Well, the girls do since I am still not up to par).
We read "Peter's First Easter" by Walter Wangerin Jr. I cannot get through this book without tears. The love Christ shows Peter after the Resurrection is so moving. This book is well done. And, it doesn't really show a full frontal view of Jesus so I think you would be okay with him. He is dark haired and dark skinned! LOL!
I will have to look for "The Very First Easter". Always looking to add new books.
