4 a.m. Question

Zander climbed into bed with me at 4 a.m.

He said, "Mom, where did Dad go?"

Have YOU ever tried to explain Middle East countries, War on Terror, 6 months or maybe more or less to a 4 year old at 4 a.m.?

He finally said, "Maybe he's getting me a new battery for my truck. " :::snort:::

I think I will need to find out which truck needs a battery and move that to the top of the "to do" list.

HI:

How cute of Alexander. Maybe in the hunt for a battery you will be able to find one made in the Middle East. :):(

Guess that will give Mike one odd gift to bring home. :)

Sorry you are having the flu pass thru again.

I think that Zander simply can't grasp the whole deployment - time thing.....it's to abstract. He came up with his own explaination for Mike's absence.

I think Nolan is already feeling better - I'm betting it was a 24 hour thing....and Stacia...still not sure if it is flu or teething related....no one else is sick at this point....

It's so hard for kids to understand what they can't see. Have you showed him a globe or map? I know that is still abstract to him but it might help a bit.

Just remind him that Daddy is doing the work that God called him to do. And that while we're sad taht Daddy is not with us.. we are happy that he can be there for our soldiers that are far from home.....

Yep - done the map thing, the calendar thing, associated the time with dates he knows like "Dad will come back after his birhtday, thanksgiving, Christmas, boys birthday, valentines day"....time and geography are still to abstract for him.

I plan to make an album and a paper chain today to help to see the passing of time.

And yes....I tell him just about what you say. LOL I tell him that Daddy loves Jesus with all his heart and is passionate about following the heart of Jesus. Jesus has led him to go and help the soldiers and tell them about Jesus' heart....and then we pray that Jesus will lead him back home to us.
