Until We Meet Again

The start of the service at Fort Logan. Michael is to the left.

Michael, Mike Rice (Step-brother), Earl Jr (1/2 brother)

Three men who named Earl as Dad and Mom G leaving

Giving Mom G her flag after she is settled in the car

Mike the older and Mike the younger

After the ceremony we headed to Alex's (Michael's Niece) home for lunch and an extended time to visit with family we've either not seen in a long time or we were meeting for the first time.
Siblings

Stacia, Krista and Jerome and Dominic G

The original plan had been to go back to the cemetery at 2:00 p.m. to finish up around the grave....but then the cemetery said it would be tomorrow and then they said 4:00 p.m. We ended up going over ourselves this afternoon. We all shared memories of Dad G and then Michael said a last prayer. I think it worked out well. Alex joined us and it was fun to hear the different stories.

A new grave sure looks bleak...silly but it bothers me.

We asked the kids how they would like to spend this night. It's rare to have us all together. This is our last night as a "nuclear family" in the hotel - tomorrow we will go to Colorado Springs and spend a couple of days with Earl Jr and Mary. They wanted dinner, dessert, praise and prayer, swimming and games.....

Dinner

Nine Gherkins and Michael

Dessert

We had a family circle time of worship, praise, prayer and a devotional led by Krista. It was a great way to bring a day to an end..... then we swam.

We're making some progress, I think, on the doctor referral. There is no way it's coming through for CO. We'll see if we can find a doc in Eugene/Springfield who will take tri-care AND will make an appointment on the 9th. If so, we can still fly home next week.  If not, we try for David Grant Medical Center (a big Air Force hospital on Travis AFB) and I have no clue how long that wait will be. I also still have no clue if they've worked out the paperwork so that we CAN stay here and wait for an appointment without Michael being AWOL.

I would REALLY like to see a picture with you in it--- the entire family. Do you think you could get the hotel desk clerk to take it?
What a wonderful thing to have the family- extended and full- together for your father's/in law's funeral. What a blessing to the man.

LOL Janette - you are right. We'll be staying at Michael's 1/2 brother's for a couple of days and we'll be sure someone snaps a few photos with all of us together.

It's been awkward to have group photo sessions when we've been with family at funerals etc.....but the next two days should provide that opportunity.
