After the neighbor got stuck, Nate and Jared helped push and dig him out .... and then they shoveled a bit of the road.
I have been thinking this isn't a "big" deal. Mike seemed to think I was exaggerating when I said I thought we were having a blizzard. I am scheduled to fly out tomorrow a.m. for OKINAWA - a TROPICAL ISALAND.
MOPS has been cancelled for tomorrow. I went outside and the snow is blowing so much you can't see. I was glad to take photos and bring them in and see what it's like out there.:: snort::
The neighbor told me that we are NOW to have a white out - and it is. That we are under a blizzard warning this afternoon and evening - expected to get 26 inches. This is the start of the storm. Rodney called Windy and said the commissary is closed, schools are out, the base is closing and all are being sent home. Um .... this is expected to be a big one. This forecast doesn't really do the outside view justice.....
I've been told that Japanese Pilots will fly in "anything". I wonder. Do you think I'll make it out tomorrow? I wonder who to call to get advice. What do I do if I lose a $700 ticket that was paid for by regional funds? I can't afford to just chalk it up.....better make some calls....and pack, I guess. ::snort::

Hmmm...my kids were in shorts and tshirts, pulling weeds, prepping the gardens and asking for slushies today...
I'll bet they cancel the flight. ANd that no shinkansens will be running. Please call the airline. They will speak English! Okinawa or Blizzard??? Both sound kind of fun...with the right accessories!
So, is this weather worse than Alaska's storms?

LOL Dorothy, well in Alaska we had snow that piled up and lasted longer......here it seems to DUMP and then melt and DUMP again.....but today was as bad as any storms I saw in Anchorage. Actually - quite a bit worse....but within days it will be gone. Alaska will have snow for quite a bit longer. That's my guess.
Kim - thanks for helping me get specific questions answered. I hear that in Okinawa they are experiencing a storm and dropped to 57*.
So much for paradise weather, anyway!
Oh my!! we didn't even have snow/wind like that in the Alps...
Oh how beautiful! Reminds me of blizzards in eastern Montana, where they NEVER canceled school....40 below wind chill and 2 feet of snow....zero visibility. I'm not sure you want to fly in this. The wings ice up. Just stay home and drink hot chocolate and read "The Long Winter."

WOW. That's some winter storm!
I can't believe it. You guys are having a beautiful blizzard, and I am stuck out here in NJ with temps in the 60's. Oh well. It will probably be all gone by the time I get home.
