Magic Bullet

Tricia and I played today. She had SEEN these before (because SHE watches TV ::snort::). It helped to have someone who knew what they do here to show me what to do.....

I'm thinking the Bosch will be best for making family smoothies and it is has a stronger motor...but this was GREAT for making a smoothie for Stacia and I this afternoon. Only thing I wasn't thrilled with was that they said to leave the leaves on the strawberries and I could TASTE them in that drink. We were going to make an energy drink for Adrienne (watermelon, pineapple, beet, CELERY and broccoli) but she showed up and told us she wasn't going to drink it. LOL

I tried to make some apple/grape juice but it made more of a sauce than juice..... Jen did you grind grain in this???? Because my mill is still being difficult and this may work until Mike gets home. Poor Mike, I'm going to have a wheelbarrow full of broken things for him to repair when he gets home....Maybe I'll make his homecoming real festive and wheel them all the airport. ::snort::

OK the photo below is TERRIBLE of me (didn't remember to SUCK IN...and all the junk in the background is usually under the sink that is now a flood zone...) but here you go proof that I am trying something NEW. LOL

Yes, I did grind grain in it before I got my mill. But is kind of a courser grain than you get with the mill and definitely not enough to feed your family! You could give it a try though. :-)

BTW, I thought strawberry leaves were poisonous!? Why would they have you leave them on? I will have to check my recipes! I didn't see that!

Of course I always thought sweet potato peels were poisonous too and yet you get sweet potato fries with peels on them. So who knows.

Let me know if you'd recommend the Bullet after you've played w/it more...My late mom-in-laws blender is nearing then end of it's usefullness. I'm trying to decide with what to replace it.

Jen - I have no idea about the strawberry tops and WON'T likely do it again even if it proves to be healthy. LOL It was from the MB instruction book. Tricia read it twice because I was saying, "WHAT?" It didn't taste very good - just a bitter after taste.

Made Stacia and I a smoothie today with it, because no one else wanted one. LOL

Bitter often translates into poisonous! Good idea not to do it again! :-)

Ok, so I was wrong again. :-) But I am with you, I won't be eating them! Though sounds like I could feed these to Jacob instead of his prescription lax? LOL

Ok, me again. I just read closer. FRESH leaves are toxic. Dry leaves are medicinal.

Did you use frozen fruit or fresh? I'm just wondering if this is something that could take frozen strawberries. I'd love for it to be easier for the kids to make their own every once in a while. When they use the big blender, they always make way too much.lol

Jen - while I'm certainly not going to knowingly feed myself or the children toxic items...it is a blessing to know that God designed the body to handle small levels. The manual specifically says "many of the nutrients are in the leaves". LOL Makes me wonder about this MB manual.

OH was it you that mentioned flax oil? The bottle says no more than 3 T a day....and we never get that much....usually 1 T at lunch and dinner on salads...and 1 T in smoothie (the BIG blender)which is for all of us - not one person.

According to the dietitian Americans get way, WAY less than they need....some ratio (can't remember what but I think it has to do with EFA) is supposed to be 1:4 but in most Americans it is 1:25....I think because of that they aren't worried that you are giong to get toxic levels unless you are purposefuly taking more capsules or using more oil than instructed....since they all tell you how much to take I don't worry about getting too much. I know that the omega's have made PMS nearly a thing of the past for me...

Not trying to convince you but sharing why we do take the flax things....as for bitter things being bad for you....Yikes - I had some green healthy drink that I thought would kill me....I tend to stay away from green drinks now. LOL

Lisa - you make the drinks in these little mugs....it called for 1 C of ice and a banana, strawberries and a splash of OJ. I used frozen fruit and it worked fine. It doesn't get as smooth as with the Bosch...in the Bosch we don't have grape skins or pineapple pulp at all....but in this we did...but that could be because it needs to blend longer.

I need to read the directions again because I could swear I saw something about 10 second spurts of use....but yesterday when we were making the smoothie we couldn't find that section. I was a bit worried to let the motor run longer than 10 seconds. LOL

Thanks De'Etta! Just what I needed to know.
