Finger Burners Around the Campfire

I did sit out long enough to hear this exchange.
Zander - "Can we make finger burners"?
Us - "what?"
Zander - "You know those things you put on the long fork, and burn, then put on chocolate...finger burners. Mom, did you bring some finger burners?"
Ah - MARSHMALLOWS - I forgot the approved graham crackers and chocolate - and he never eats the marshmallows anyway - because well - they are for finger burning, evidently. ::snort::

We're Home

It was a memorable trip. I was sick. I simply didn't feel like crawling out of bed. Mike took the kids fishing and to the zoo while I slept. They enjoyed two wonderful campfires while I hacked and slept. Stacia was feeling terrible last night, seemed good today and is bad again tonight.  Hopefully, by the end of this week, we'll all kick this congestion, sinus, cough thing.....I think I'm on the mend.

The boys took the camera one a.m. to take photos that sparked their imagination. Jamin often does this to use the photos as he describes settings for his writing...he must have something in mind.....these are just a few...

They were stopped by the park ranger shortly after this and told that no bows are allowed anywhere in the state park. Egads - thankfully, he didn't see the ax photo.::snort::

Later that night Mike and the kids were playing freeze tag up at the castle...up and down the steps, jumpnig here and there...a rousing game of freeze tag. Stacia and I went up to watch...just in time to glimpse Jamin stuck on the roof. He was about to jump off when the same Park Ranger told him to stay put until he brought a ladder. I hid until the man was gone. ::snort:: I was a tad bit embarassed that my well-mannered young men had been chided twice in the same day by the same ranger.

Photos from the zoo.....
The elephants are gone, and there is a new rhino???

They took a bunch of snake photos - which I will NOT post.
This little monkey....

Took quite a liking to Jamin. ::snort::

Hmmm...the older two young men are apparently too old to pose for the traditonal zoo shot...LOL

The caboose is unpacked and cleaned. It's back at the RV lot. The laundry is running. All have been fed. Mike is restoring a computer that crashed. I've checked our United order and made a couple of adjustments. Stacia is fussy...time for more ear drops. Jamin ended up going into work....back to life.

Not the Way It Should Be

It is not a good thing.....

START THEM YOUNG

Stacia curled up in a produce crate and told us she was "reading".

The Great Motivator......The Caboose

Yes, Mike brought The Caboose home. Stacia led me out to see it. She showed me "Mommy, Daddy's bed", then checked a cupboard and said, "Jest a minute, I need git my diapers!" She now has 4 diapers safely loaded in The Caboose.

Zander came in and said, "I'm going to my lover - no, wait a minute. I'm staying here and going camping." I think that is progress.

We got our taxes sent again....maybe this time will work. I've been working on our United order. I'm learning so much about Excel. This is a good thing...and having Heather for IT Support is a great thing. ::snort::

I made a couple kinds of salad dressings, dinner, and now I'm running down. I'm still not sleeping well with my cough.

Mike is back at the office "tying up loose ends," and we'll pack in the a.m. We've decided not to be gone as long as expected, but it will be a nice break. I received a new review copy of a book in the mail - not for a blog tour but for me to read, enjoy and review......maybe I'll go read. LOL

We're Throwing the Child Overboard!

The base is handling our taxes (for the last year). Our tax return has now been rejected three times. We read Jonah this a.m. Somehow it seems appropriate that we have begun to throw children overboard as 15 Apr approaches. Yep, we're submitting it without Krista tomorrow. We'll see if they take it now. ::snort:: Maybe we'll be down to the average 2.3 children by the time we pay Uncle Sam.

We like these. We've realized our tastes have changed since this recipe originally published in 2008. We will leave off the chocolate next time or use about 1/3 of the called for chips. They are RICH.

Thanks, Jen, for sending me this yummy recipe.
