*Polar the Titanic Bear* by Daisy Corning Spedden
I've mentioned this book a few times this week but it deserves it's own entry. This book is delightful! The story was originally written as a Christmas gift for Daisy's 8 year old son, Douglas. Polar is a Steiff bear that was given to Douglas.
Through this book we are offered a glimpse into a lifestyle that is long gone. The Spedden family traveled aboard the Titanic. This little book tells the story of that and more through the eyes of Polar, Douglas' faithful companion. Polar even has it's own website.
This is the best type of children's fiction. Factual (both info and REAL photos), interesting, creative and engaging. Thanks, Steph, for the recommendation. I wholeheartedly pass this recommendation on to the rest of you.

Polar has a website!?! I had no idea! We're going to have to visit it tomorrow. I'm just thrilled that your family loves Polar like we do. It's definitely a keeper. I melt every time we read it.
