The Grasshopper Trap - by Patrick McManusGeocaching - We found 5 out of 6...
There had been recent floods...
and most of the caches were IN the brush! Several times we let Michael go INTO the undergrowth and bring the cache out in order to avoid snakes. Yes, Arielle SAW a snake so we know they really do exist.
Doesn't this scream SNAKES???? What does this say about me that I said, "Zander, I found it - want to get it? " ::snort::
Somewhere on the long caching trek, Stacia discovered her BUTTONS...and spent quite a bit of time the rest of the day buttoning an unbuttoning her outfit. And then the camera died.....I do have a video of Stacia feeding the giraffes that I'll try to load later...and there are a zillion other photos, but I'm at 87% of my limit on blogger.
The weekend was wonderful. We missed the four older children, but we had a great time connecting with the younger five. I am refreshed! I needed to get away from all the "to do" lists, that I can't possibly keep up with, and simply BE A FAMILY. That is tough to do when you are a pastor's family....a bit easier when he was a junior chaplain and tougher again now that he has more responsibility at work. I'm so very glad that Michael wanted to buy a trailer....it certainly made camping in HOT TEMPS much more bearable....because we may have gone without electronic TOYS but you can bet your bippy I was running the AC and the freezer.
Lunch break is over...More later.

De'Etta, I'm so glad you had a good time camping. We still haven't bought a camper, so there's no camping for us in the heat! You're very brave to take on snake country ~ I don't know how brave I would be about all of that brush.
You'll have to start buying Stacia dresses that button in the back now that she has figured out how to "play" with the buttons! LOL
De'Etta, sounds like everyone had lots of fun!
Sounds like a GREAT trip!

What a wonderful weekend. The photos are all great and it shounds like you had a terrific family time
I love fall camping, although I'm not sure fall camping in TX is the same as in northeast. We would not be running the AC, but aren't trailers the best! LOL
We're hoping to get one more trip in before we winterize our camper.
Sis:
WOW! What fun it sounds like you all had.
Love the "Chocolate river" sound. Dad picked me up from the Lab today and had a pack of M&M Peanuts that tasted so good after not eating anything since Sat. night. A nice way to have food again. YES, chocolate is FOOD!
SNAKES: Sis, I fully understand your thoughts. :):):):)
The younger five. AND a new position for Jared even though it is not all the time. Neat!
love you all so much and praying for you all, also for the little girl.

Yay! Glad you had a lovely family time.
Even though it's only a couple of days since our week long vacation at the beach, I'm already so stressed I feel like running away again.{g}
{Deep breaths} The start of the academic year is TOUGH on mums!
Thanks all for thinking of us.
Sounds like a GREAT weekend getaway!
Isn't a GPS an "electronic toy" for "big kids"? LOL! I SO know what you mean, but had to poke fun!
Huh! Well, how do you like THAT? Mike kept his gps and I kept my camera....guess we forgot those were electronic toys...but we didn't take the computer....or the dvd player. LOL
