Shopping

WARNING - this post is for the girls and my mom....and it may be a bit much for some readers....especially male readers...why don't you move on? You've been warned and it's YOUR fault if you are offended by reading further. ::snort::

I haven't bought new bras since Nolan was born.

My girls tease me quite a bit of totally mortifying them when they were young and needed to buy bras. In my defense I lived in countries where dressing rooms weren't always options...How do you figure out if something is the right size when there are no dressing rooms? You hold it up to yourself or try it on over your clothes.

The girls begged me a couple of years ago NOT to subject future daughters to such embarrassment....and I've remembered. ::snort::

Today seemed like a good day to go pick up a couple of new undergarments (is that a more discreet word?). I had Stacia and Zander with me but surely they wouldn't be embarrassed (they weren't).

Question - WHY are all the really big bras padded? Do you really NEED padding if you are a DD or E or F? Why are the small ones padded for that matter - does anyone make a simple cotton undergarment these days?

I had commented (without thinking of little ears) that I'd like to find something pretty.

As I shopped....I heard a familiar voice loudly singing, "pretty, pretty, pretty, mommy needs a pretty!" I turned around. What I saw made me laugh until I cried.

Photobucket

I took a photo of Zander too but decided to delete it...his brothers would have far too much fun tormenting him in about 4 years with the photo. All I can say, in his defense, is the green padded DD's DID look like WWI Army Helmets. It was priceless. Maybe I shouldn't have deleted the photo. I'll never be able to re-stage it.

I will have to continue the search - maybe at the mall....

Hahaha! Kids are so fun. You should have kept that photo! I would have. It would go under my "future embarrassing stories for the fiance" file. BTW, we made our first lapbook. I blogged it. :)

Oh that is hillarious!

I like that bras are padded, even the larger cup size that I need. It really helps with the headlight issues! I will never again buy an unpadded bra, unless I won't be wearing it out of my bedroom ;)

Oh My Word,

I laughed outloud--something I have not done in weeks. Bless their heart, they just wanted something "pretty" for Mama.

The better question is why do they market bras that look like suggestive lingere, for young girls? For us, ahem, mature folks who need support and comfort, I highly recommend Kohl's if you have one. Pretty, supportive, a variety without padding, and they are frequently on sale. If not, JC Penney's usually has the same bra's as Kohl's.

I took my eldest shopping for new bras yesterday. I too was surprised that almost all average size bras were padded... we did find some sports style bras that had clasps in the back that weren't padded.... and they even have them at the PX/BX

You know I get the modesty/discreet thing...but these things add 3 inches to a person....

Sis: Kohl's is good but I find Penny's better. For over 45 years they have been my store for bra's. Hope someday to not have to go there but.......... I refuse to sag. :):):)

Love the kids and their ideas of bra's. Please keep a picture of Alexander for us. We promise not to tease but not sure about the wedding thing. You should have seen the one someone gave to Dad after we were married..... you know one of those dorm moments. Wish I looked like that now. :):):)

Dad/I are bottle feeding 3 pugs born by c-section. Pray the mama will claim them cuz as of yet no way ..... one died but we have 1 boy and 2 girls left.

love/prayers Mom T.

That's hilarious! If you deleted the picture from your computer then you should search your deleted files and see if it's still there somewhere (LOL)! Of course, if you deleted it from yoru camera, it's long gone. I'm guessing you can't do that though since you don't have a screen, do you?

Too funny.
I have found the Hanes bras to be really nice. I get them at Wal-Mart. And if you want to talk panties, well I have thrown out all except my new ones from Hanes, the guaranteed not to ride up. They Are AWESOME~!~
Good Luck Friend. It's almost as hard as finding a bathing suit!

I don't know what size you're looking for (nor do I want to ask), but if you're willing to spend a bit of money for a REALLY GOOD bra, I suggest the Ipex from Victoria's Secrets. While not necessarily a great store to walk around in with boys (a lot less modest stuff in there), the Ipex is wonderful for a "fuller" gal...get the full coverage one, not the demi. There is no padding anywhere, the material, while not cotton, is soft and holds its shape nicely, and it is simple and elegant, with no seams and a lining thick enough to eliminate "cold notices".

Y'all crack me up. I am now armed with lots of knowledge...and I'll find time to go shopping again...sometime...but I don't think I'll update the blog. ::snort::

well, i find that in looking for large sizes, there's no point in going to the department stores- especially if the cup is big and the band is small. I like Lane Bryant- they focus on bigger sizes that VS doesn't have and carry functional bra's. You can also try them on, find the fit and style you want and order online for years to come :)

Not only is the story hilarious but I am laughing at the fact that you had your camera with you in the store. LOL
